eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee FANTASTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!
You put up what you would be most likely to buy if you wanted art in your home. Atr least that's what I would do. Maybe ask your friends what they would be most likely to buy.
if the gallery isn't picking the pieces, be sure to have a theme ... a story to tell through each of your pictures ... find a thematic vein that runs through each of the pieces without two pieces telling the same part of the story ... unless, of course, they are telling it from two very different perspectives. its kind of like picking a set list for a musical performance ... pace it well ... mix quiet pieces with faster ones. and less is always more ... tell your story but do not be verbose. the size of the story and the number of pieces should depend on the space you are showing in ... the space is the 'scene' that people will see the story in ... what kind of venue is it: a dive bar or a lavish concert hall ... a huge stage with 5 pieces or a corner of a room with 5 pieces and tables pushed up to the "stage"? and most of all bring the pieces that scream at you "PICK ME!"
Good ideas y'all thank you, sure does help me to focus keep 'em coming. My sister and I have joined an art league and we get to show four 'pieces' to sell in their gallery and now I have to get it together by early spring It's way more fun than the nursing classes though, and we the league will promote our own shows if we can muster the goods.
