I see no reason that people who are physically able to give blood don't. Yet so many people don't and there is always a shortage of blood (this has been a lecture and public service announcement from LuckyStripe).....

I'm going to give blood tomorrow.

Are you afraid of needles? I'm not... used to be at one point but I got over that.

Can't! Apparently I'm too exotic for the U.S. Red Cross.

I've never given blood, but I would in a heartbeat if I needed to for my family or friends.

Heck, when they take my blood for routine labwork I must look pretty peaked because the nurses are always looking at me all freaked out saying "Are you okay? Are you sure?" And I know I feel all cold-like, really light-headed, like the room is swaying.

It doesn't bother me all that much, I think I'm more afraid of passing out than anything else.

But like I said, if it came down to one of my family or friends, I'd do it in a second to help them out. I must give my props to those (like yourself) who do it regardless.

I gave blood for the first, and last time, when I was 18. I was sick for two weeks afterward, to the point where I was hospitalized. My body just can't afford to give blood.

I wish I could though...I have a rare blood type.

thats cuz you don't eat enough meat to get the iron you need to replace it. sorry, but thats probably closer to the truth than you wanted to hear. I'll just move along and shut up now.

What's your blood type Annie? Mine is O+...universal donor. I really should donate, I guess I'm just afraid to. Worried about passing out in the chair. :&

Wow... I'm really surprized that so many of you are unable to give blood. I didnt realize they were so picky at the Red Cross and such places....

actually, o-negative is the universal donor, since it has no antigens whatsoever. basically that means that the only people i can receive blood from are o-negatives, however, my blood can be given to anyone. o-positive blood can be given to anyone with the positive next to their blood type: A+, B+, AB+, O+.

got an education in that when i was hospitalized with kai. lol. i remembered way too much.

I have given blood in the past, but I haven't passed the "iron test" in a long time. The one where they drop your blood in a vial and it has to sink in a certain amount of time...

I had iron issues during my last pregancy and nearly had to have a transfusion...

    I am A+

it's an easy mistake to make. but your blood type would come in incredibly handy anyway. i've been in high demand for years, but since i've had my babies, i've had one virus after another and i get sent away. it really chaps their asses to do it, too. lol. ah, well, they'll get me next time. my dad has given gallons and gallons of blood over his 70 years on this earth, he's AB+ and they never get enough of him.
