The annual list of words/phrases that have been so over-used so badly in 2006 that they've become annoyances.. http://www.lssu.edu/banished/current.php The archive is here: http://www.lssu.edu/banished/archived_lists.php
don't most movie ads say either just "now playing" or "now playing in theaters near you"? heh and I REFUSE to stop overusing the word "awesome".
That's pretty good list overall, can see their point in most cases. 'We're pregnant' has been bugging me all year too.
"It's so annoying, idiotic and so lame and pathetic that it's 'lamethetic.'" -- Ed of Centreville, Virginia. this made me laugh, thanks for the post __________________ Australian Job Listing
I thought that this year's list was a bit on the weak side, but figured it worth a mention. The misuse/overuse that bugs me most is "this begs the question...," and then they go on to actually ask a question. "Begs the question" is the name of a logical fallacy, and has nothing to do with asking a question. But for the life of me I can't figure out how it got that name...
sadly enough i have used 'truthiness' and 'pwned' in many of my conversations. and i'm applying to LSSU next year.
