Do you think that stealing from large corporations when you're hungry is justified? I went without work for days or weeks every once in a while this summer, and had no food and barely any money... at those days the self-checkout line in Walmart was my best friend. So yes... would you do it?
yes. me and my brother and the kids in my neighborhood grew up never even knowing that was wrong. we didnt have money. so we had to get food somehow. all the kids were always pretty much on our own when it came to that. with no money and a single parent that worked all day. stealing and foodstamps man
I've always been a fan of dumpster diving, myself. I have a terrible conscious. If I stole food, I would feel guilty and turn myself in.
I think the whole idea of stealing being wrong is falsly imprinted on our little heads when we are young. Stealing that can hurt anything or anybody is defenatly wrong, just for the fact that it hurts something or somebody. I try not to steal from corporations unless I need to have food, but when I do steal food I do not feel a single bit of remorse... these corporations are making billions of dollars which go directly into thier greedy pockets. That money could do so much good, but instead it is just wasted on gas guzzling cars, mansions, big screen tvs, private jets, and other cheap thrills. It disgusts me. If you disagree with what corporations such as Walmart are doing on any level you can approach it in two ways. You can peacefully protest outside the Walmart and achieve next to nothing (I have been to way too many Walmart protests throughout Arkansas when the whole Walmart Watch thing was very active... and all we got were lots of middle fingers)... or you can fight it from with in... stealing from Walmart seems like a much stronger expression of civil protest than standing outside it with signs. I would never result to violence, and I am not saying that this justifies stealing from any other place... but as much as I hate to say it... some lovely places like Walmart just truly deserve it.
yeah i never felt bad either. i think it has to do with the way you are raised but i really dont think its wrong. i really dont give a fuck. when i was little my parents would actually put me up to it. unlike most people though i have morals. i wouldnever steal from my friends or family or even someone i didnt know. because i beleive in karmic retribution. stealing from stores isnt hurting anyone directly. maybe indirectly, but again i just dont care
I remember when I was 5, I accidentally took a bottle of Elmer's Glue from the dollar store. My mother made me take it back myself and apologize. It was humiliating. That's what I think of everytime stealing even crosses my mind.
Ahh... my parents were too busy working (well, my mother... my dad was too busy drinking) to teach me about not stealing... and I grew up in rather poor neigborhoods as a child. I remember stealing ciggs at the age of 12 from convenience stores... took a lot of guts for me though... I was an insecure kid.
Yea I wouldn't fell bad if I were you. Especially from Walmart. My favorite trick is to l leave things on the bottom of the cart and just load the groceries back in right away so the cashier can't see it. The other day I got toilet paper, laundry detergent, and a big thing of water all for free because I "forgot" they were down there! Whoops! haha
I steal all the time. If I had no money or no job, I could easily survive just by doing dine-n-dashes. I have done that anyway. I used to fill up shopping carts with $100+ of food and just walk out of the store without paying, and never got caught.
i would never encourage anyone to be dishonest with themselves. but there ARE times and circumstances where i "don't see" what i do. and i think this, what the title of this thread is, would almost certainly be one of them. i wouldn't rat on anyone doing so. but i would kind of prefer they didn't put both of us at risk by doing so in my presence. that's basicly how i feel about it. really the important thing is to AVOID causing suffering. to anyone. =^^= .../\...
Stealing when you are starving is not a sin. I don't think any of the folks posting here were EVER in that position.
When I was young I used to find food without paying for it... sometimes stole it from corporations, but I usually found ways to get it for free like asking for old food that restaurants were going to throw out anyway. Some places said no but some people were really cool and gave me tons of free food if it was near closing time. I`m sure glad I can afford to just buy it now, it`s crazy how much things have changed since those days...
