Hi!I'm Joan and I'm from Greece!My name here is Ioanna (ÉùÜííá)...I always have a different opinion of things from other girls of my age...I apologize because I don't speak English fluently so I'm sure that I make mistakes and...sorry!It must be quite funny-I know-but please don't laugh at least not in front of me!So I have a very different opinion of things in my head and when I was watching TV like a coach potato I was, I was watching the new and I was horrified of what was happening in Iraque the same time I was playing in my computer...So, I decided to take action I'll do whatever I can because noone who rules will listen to the requests of a 14-years-old LittleHip...


(I have a questiono we have to smoke Marijuana to be hippies?cause I'm not gonna to!)

And yes, you absolutely have to smoke marijuana to be a hippie... Skip comes around and takes a urine sample once a month from all of us to make sure we've got some in our system, it's absolutely required. And besides, all the cool kids are doing it, why aren't you?

I used to, on rare occasions, in highschool... haven't since though, no reason really just never felt the need to.

Welcome to the Hip forums little sister!! Smoking weed doesn't make you a hippy...being a hippy is a state of mind. Growing up in the late 60's early 70's...I've known lots of cool, hip people who didn't pollute their body's with the herb.

 

Have funin Greece iloveu!Then why many hippies smoke weeds?I don't know but I suppose that marijuana or any sort of drug won't help to a healthy state of mind...it can only cause damage!And why I always complain about marijuana?Because hippies are the only people left thinking of world peace!If they don't have a clear, healthy mind and a healthy organism...How are they going to stop bad things happening on our world?How?

I'm glad you found this sight. I've said this before, but, I love talking to people from other countries. And Greece is my favorite besides my own.
As for the "weed" aspect of hippydom....Well, I'm as hippy as they come...was at Woodstock and all... and I don't smoke it ! I have two college degrees to show for that fact. As has been said already, being a hippy is a state of mind. Your view of this planet and how it is run makes you a hippy. What you choose to do or not do about it makes you a hippy. It's true that much of the 60's and 70's are associated soley with the use of drugs. It's a stereotype given to hippies and I really don't like it. You are absolutely right. To be an active thread to any movement requires all of your mind. Quick wits and sharp thinking will go farther to improve things than dull drugged minds. Everything has it's place but you can't advance a movement of anysort if you don't know what is going on. You stay sharp and stay informed ! The man would like nothing more than to keep you and everyone else in the dark. But I for one am not going to let that happen...I never have ! Peace and Love, and keep writing and posting here !
P.S. You might not think anyone in authority will listen to a 14 year old, but let me tell you something.....your voice can and is heard ! My grandmother used to say..."the squeeky wheel gets the grease".
