what kind of simple things do you do, every day, to lessen you impact on global warming?

I'm growing more and more concerned about global warming. though as a teen, i have a very jam packed schedule, as i assume most of you all do. i usually find myself more preoccupied with other things than thinking about how I'm affecting the environment with my Co2 output.

so what are some simple things i can do?

i recently got a new gar that has better emission ratings and get double the MPG's i was getting in my old car.

Consume less of everything, get off the computer, live in a smaller house, live in a warmer area.

buy less. donate things/sell them. fix broken appliances instead of just buying new ones. ride a bike (if you can). ride the bus. drive a hybrid? recycle everything you can.
buy less plastic objects. we need to stop depending on plastic.
bring your own bags to the grocery store (like canvas bags).
when you do buy things, make sure its durable. a lot of things aren't made to last long anymore.

Heh, those are the best solutions :)

You may also write to your Member of Parliament, Congressman, Senator or any other elected official that represents you to urge them to do something on global warming ...

we have this new thing in indiana called a corn heater (figures INDIANA would figure out another use for corn) its like a regular fireplace, only instead of cutting down forests of trees they grow corn for fuel. works just like a regular heater, just as warm, still has a flame, but with less smoke output and not as much chemicals in the air. they're pretty cheap too! and no soot! i tried getting my mom to get one, but no dice :( ill be heading to college soon, so i cant get one. but when i move out i might get one.

I was never a big believer of the Global Warming theory. It is scientifically proven that the earth goes through natural periods of global warming and cooling, and this is a just one of those periods.

I am sure that humans are contributing to it, and I'm all about stopping that... but this issue has been blown completely out of proportion by politicians seeking votes.

    Terrible.

If you buy a hybrid your choosing to buy a car made out of plastic and aluminum and the use of plastic is contributing to global warming.

Also by buying a hybrid your choosing not to reuse a cheaper faster and significantly cooler car.

So basically the way I look at were fucked no mater what we do so why not have fun with what time we have left? Go ahead turn the heat up, watch TV, take pictures, listen to music, and set forest fires. (I’m kidding about the last one).

Although I would avoid plastic, theirs just something evil about it.

not true on the reusing old cars... you can recycle old cars, to be used to make new ones. ones that are hybrid, which uses less fuel.

i much more support taking the bus instead.

now if the buses used alternative fuel...

I think that Ethanol might be a viable alternative to gasoline, it has an octane of 126 as opposed to unleaded gasoline’s 87-93, and any car can run on it if you drill out the metering jets in the carburetor 30%. Also due to the higher octane you could have a compression ratio in excess of 12:1 without spark plug detonation. In the 60’s regular leaded gas was 100 octane and high-test was 110 thus allowing compression ratios between 10:1 - 11:1. The higher the compression ratio the more power you get for the displacement of the engine. I could imagine that a modest 5.0-liter engine with an 800 cfm carburetor running on ethanol with 12:1 compression ratio could easily achieve 350hp.

Compact fluroescent light bulbs I got from my local hardware store save me like 20 bills a month on electricity. My whole house is run on these now, and they paid themselves off in a month. They make great gifts too. They have mercury in them though so be mindful of how you dispose of them when you do.

Your PC monitor takes up more energy than your PC does, so shut it off when its not in use. And shut your lights off.

The energy matrix is not something we want to plug into if we can help it. Energy corporations=the corporations controlling the Earth, big time. The energy thing is the thing. That's how the illuminati keeps us all in check, and that is one of the number one power scams running right now. Free enrgy devices have existed for a long time, but have been squashed and hidden several times because it is the biggest threat to the powers that be right now.

Buy locally grown organic food too. ORGANIC FOOD is where it's at. And grow your own if your into that.

And buy hemp/organic cotton clothes or shop @ a thirft store. Cotton=#1 most polluting crop grown on planet Earth right now.

    Quit working for big brother,
    Start working for the mother

    Peace love and wheatgrass,
    Avocado
