Hills Like White Elephants - Hemingway

I love this short story so much...I just wrote a paper on it for my lit class and I actually really enjoyed analyzing the characters and the interesting way they interacted.

Anyone else read this story?

 

I've read it. It was interesting, but not one of my favorites.

Not my favourite story by the old man- but it is good.
I can see why you liked analyzing the chrachters....that seems like it would be the most fun!

 

I still haven't read much other Hemingway, I had a totally different idea of what his writing would be like before reading this...much less straightforward and direct than I might've expected.

 

This was my first introduction to Hemingway. It was for a high school english class, and I kind of just ran through it without really caring. But when I got to the end I realized I didn't know what the hell happened in the story. So I re-read it and picked up on the subtlety that is so characteristic of Hemingway. I love that short story, and I have grown to love Hemingway's style.
