I love this short story so much...I just wrote a paper on it for my lit class and I actually really enjoyed analyzing the characters and the interesting way they interacted. Anyone else read this story?

Not my favourite story by the old man- but it is good. I can see why you liked analyzing the chrachters....that seems like it would be the most fun!
I still haven't read much other Hemingway, I had a totally different idea of what his writing would be like before reading this...much less straightforward and direct than I might've expected.
This was my first introduction to Hemingway. It was for a high school english class, and I kind of just ran through it without really caring. But when I got to the end I realized I didn't know what the hell happened in the story. So I re-read it and picked up on the subtlety that is so characteristic of Hemingway. I love that short story, and I have grown to love Hemingway's style.
