Protests don't achieve anything unless they're violent.

Are you going to arm yourselves with weapons to be used against your enemies?

If no, then you're not going to get anything out of a protest, now protests back in Eastern Europe, now those worked.

Trouble is, folks go to the protests, and then they go home and continue to live just as they have been. Violent protest may get somebodys attention, but puts lots of folks in harms way and the things we protest are much bigger than we are. They always have a bigger gun (bigger dick). I would like to see MASSIVE passive resistance. You pick up a gun, you'll get shot. You get in the way, glue up the works with non cooperation and non participation, it makes their control harder to maintain. The real revolution will start when the masses start taking things into their own hands despite the government.

wot a load of rubbish! there is a place for passive protest just as there is for the violent, dont put ppl down for expressing themselves, they may not be percieved to be achieving much but we gota start somewhere. though i do agree some violence does hit da news g-spots!

How did the Communist regimes end in Eastern Europe, through peaceful hippie protests? No, many people died and got hurt, but those revolutionaries won in the end.

Ya, violence is the only way to solve problems. I went out and bought the same kind of assault rifle that Ghandi had, it's pretty sweet. Remember when Ghandi blew up the British Embasy with hand Grenades, I hear they modeled Rambo after Ghandi. When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. marched on Washington and burned half the city down and murdered a bunch of people, that achieved so much.

HA HA HA HA ! Imagine the irony of going to protest against violence and then being out there to fight the police ?

Maximusxxx you gotta get more politically savvy - the press would have a field day - theyd string the whole peace movement up by the balls

How can you have a violent peace protest?

    Anybody else going?

I really want to, but its on a Monday and it's a 6 hour train ride each way... so might not work. I don't know how many classes I can miss next semester.

I don't know. While violence could bring change much faster, I wouldn't want to go down in history that way.

MLK was assassinated and bombed though, and it didn't stop his goals from being achieved. Once he set it in motion, even his death didn't undo it.

You can't have peace with violence dumbasses. Why do people seem to think that??
Peace is about no violence.. get it?
Its a protest AGAINST violence. Remember two wrongs don't make a right.

I will be there by the way. =)
