1200 - 800 BCE Bhang (dried cannabis leaves, seeds and stems) is mentioned in the Hindu sacred text Atharva veda (Science of Charms) as "Sacred Grass", one of the five sacred plants of India. It is used by medicinally and ritually as an offering to Shiva. that ones my favorite.
i heard phoenicians or one of those ancient peoples used to build big tents and then have a fire of cannabis plants under it so all the smoke would get trapped, then they would just sit in it and get reallly high
The chicken.. no no wait... it was the egg... actually there are accounts of chinese cultivating marijuana back in 2000BC
Animals do not get high from eating weed. The first people to get high from pot were cavemen. It was easier to keep a fire going than build a new one, and one day someone threw some hemp plants on the fire to keep it going. Wind blew smoke their way and BAM they were the 1st hippies. After awhile they figured out what plant bestowed that feeling. Carl Sagan opined that hemp was the first cultivated plant EVER, meaning it created civilization. Agriculture allowed humans to abandon their hunter/gatherer way of life and settle down to tend their crops, and build cities.
