Well my grandad says i have a cold, but i've never had one before (i'm lucky ) so i don't really know. Starting wednesday it felt really damp and uncomfortable every time i breathed in, the next day my voice dropped a couple of octaves (i sound like a man), next day i couldn't sleep cause i couldn't breathe very naturally. Today my throat hurts like a bitch, it feels like it's all swollen up inside, i can't swallow easily and i've got looooads of saliva compared to normal. So yeah all i want is something to soothe my throat but i don't know what to use. Any suggestions? I'm drinking lots of fruit juice but it doesn't seem to help.
In the States there's a type of gargle you can get at the pharmacy (chemist) that's called Tonsilline, that I think is excellent. It will clear up a sore throat in no time. If they don't have it in stock they can order it. Doctors will tell you to gargle with warm salt water, but that always did my throat a lot more harm than good. Good luck. I hope you feel better. Btw, you've never had a cold before? You must have some pretty strong genes...
Haha i'm not gargleing salt water again.. yuck I've been at the tea the past few days, seems to be helping as the pain has gone Still have a cough though.. and once yesterday and twice today i had coughing fits, it felt like something really sharp was stuck in my throat. I was downing water by the bucketfull and tears were flooding out my eyes uncontrollably. Had to run out my lesson. grr it had better go away soon
Home-remedy-type test - drink a glass of cold milk. If it burns like hell, you most likely have a strep infection instead of a simple sore throat, and you need to see a doctor to get better. I'm not aware of any scientific basis for this, but it's worked for my family for years - and every time the milk burned the throat, the doctor diagnosed strep.
Halls works pretty good and will get rid of your cough, though a single cough-drop wont last you more than an hour. Otherwise tea...
