it's why there's also flashing lights on emergency vehicles, i guess. my friend's brother was totally deaf, he drove. they have some funky sensors in their dashboard for some stuff, it was years ago, i don't remember what it was for. also, my brother's ex-mil was totally deaf before her cochlear implant, she drove everywhere.
Sadly they're generally better drivers than most people who can hear because they take visual cues over audible ones. most drivers either have the radio on in the car, or are talking with their passenger(s) and are not listening anyway. Firefighters experience this everyday when they approach a car (with the siren blaring away) and the driver doesn't even hear them - when they pass-by the can generally hear the stereo speakers working double-duty. They can never get into an accident because of cell phone or stereo distractions. They might well be better at it than hearing people.
A girl I went to school with has a brother who is deaf and he drives...like a bat out of hell. Haha. Deaf people are no more impaired than people more concerned with bass than the world arround them.
i don't have a cell phone, and kai won't let me play my music in the car. she only likes country music. it makes no sense.
yaeh, the question is; can HEARING people drive cars? and i wonder what fraction of the cars driven are driven cohierently. i would guess a very small one. seeing out the front and the pretense of being in control are all well and fun, but a tremendous waste of resources. and if you can't take it off the pavement you might as well be on some kind of guideway/track anyway. besides, cctv COULD give every rider on m.u. vehicules that same view out the front as if they were riding shotgun in the cab. (and it wouldn't kill anyone to WALK half a mile to the nearest narrowgauge multiple unit 'trolly' stop, IF (of coruse) there were enough going enough different directions often enough, which worshipping the automobile is the main reason there isn't) i know i know, we're not living in 'my' fantasy world. my concern is the REASONS we're not. =^^= .../\...
not only can the mentaly challanged post threads, but one legged midgets can BE tarzan! (wasn't that the WHOLE POINT of modeming and bbs'ing that prediceded the internet in the first place? er, but then i guess some of you probably weren't arround then.) i DO know of someone who went into the DMV and asked for a copy of the driver's handbook in braille. =^^= .../\...
My friends cousin was deaf and drove a truck all around everywhere. Deaf people can steal, too. that basterd still owes me and my brother 90 bucks for some pot from like 3 years ago. we never seen him again.
yeah i agree with ya there. one time in elementary school my shoe came off at the playground and this deaf kid came running up to it and stole it and started running off with it. his teacher made him give it back though, or else he would have probably kept it
