I realize that there will be a good deal of reading, and studying, involved before i will find myself anywhere near a mediocre understanding of OC, but I was wondering if any of you glorious chemists out there happen to have any good websites where I might be able to start. Please let me know. Thank you.
I'll second the idea of formal schooling for the study of chemistry. The only way to "really" learn this stuff is to get hands-on lab experience, which you aren't likely to get by trying to learn at home. Start with a basic refresher in inorganic, then jump in. Organic chem tends to be more "intuitive" than the inorganic chem you probably got in high school. Less math and more emphasis on structure and interactions between structural groups. Lots of schools have Org. Chem tutorials available online, such as: http://gopher.chem.uic.edu/organic/organic.html If you are specifically interested in the application of organic chem to the manufacture of psychoactive drugs, the 2 best sites on the web are: http://www.rhodium.ws and http://www.the-hive.ws
that's encouraging for me fellas, I'm 25 and decided selling cars wasn't my life long goal, so I registed at my local community college, filled out the online fasa documents to help pay, got some study guides from the campus library took the placement exam, and I start in jan. Not only do I feel like I'm doing myself some good, but I finally found out where all the chicks hang out. yeah score!!
