homeless friend in LA area looking for somewhere kynd...

so i have a friend who just hitched to california and presently he's living on the streets in venice... he needs to find some sort of hippie community so he can get away from the terrible stuff happenin on the streets. for example, he said the other night he was sleeping in an alley while two people were smoking crack right next to him. now, stas (that's his name) is an extremely smart and happy kid. he doesn't need to be around those negative vibes.. i was wondering where a good place in cali would be for him to go. he can hitch wherever need be. he just needs a loving place where he can be accepted. any suggestions?
he's also willing to work or do whatever he needs to do to get by.

 

Does he want to stay in Venice or does he want to travel?
I know some hippies up farther North he could stay with..... sorry it dosen't help that much.
But I know a few people out there who maybe able to point him in the right direction...

I hear there's a squatters camp called Slab City out in the Desert near Niland, CA.
Also he could do a farm internship through WWOOF (willing workers on organic farms).
