What kind of gifts do you give at christmas? Are they homemade, store bought or what? I know people that give homemade candy, Hot cocoa mix, crafts they have made.Anything that they have made that cuts down on they cost of Christmas gifts. This year I made Hot Cocoa Mix. I put it in jars with little Christmas cloth tops with labels I made on the computer. Then I put them in gift bags with little bags of mini marshmallows. That was just for the adults and co workers. By doing this for the adults it saved me money to splurge on the kids.. What are you guys doing for gifts that you are giving for Christmas.
I give money to people I like. If I have to give a prezzie to someone I don't like I'll buy something cheap that looks expensive
I bought most of the gifts this year from Oxfam Unwrapped (http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com/). I also made some jewellery for some of my friends.
I have no money for gifts. I just give the people i love my time and company, the best gift of all. That is my excuse and i'm sticking to it. I'd heard that some people were a littl miffed about oxfam unwrapped. Giving goats as gifts . i think it is all rubbish, but Peta seem miffed [as usual]. http://www.guardian.co.uk/ethicalbusiness/story/0,,1819340,00.html
I usually try to buy something that they've wanted for a while as long as it's less expensive than an HDTV..... My dad really wants one but there is no way I can afford one, bah and the only other thing he wants is a car...<_<;; Anyway I suck at making homemade gifts to say the least my family is usually very dissapointed in them, they want store stuff.
I am giving people stuff from bath and body works, books and jars with cookie and soup mixes this year.
empty boxes with pretty colored wrapping paper because the wrapping paper is all we can afford. well, ok, not quite THAT bad. but to me anyway, midwinter's eve isn't about gifts OR christerism, but peace, goodwill, pretty colored blinking lights and the smell of pine needles. we do actualy put stuff in the boxes. stuff from the store. stuff from the CHEEP store. mostly. we give each other more usefull stuff without the fancy schmancy gift boxes the rest of the year. i guess the thing with the fancy boxes is some kind of ritual wifie likes. i don't mind getting and giving stuff either. it's just that there's somethings i'd rather have then all the stuff you can put in boxes, that there really arn't any kind of boxes it would fit in. top of the list of course being the kind of world i'd rather be living in. (even if i had to sleep under an effing bridge to live in it!) =^^= .../\...
All the kids in my family have lost the point of christmas. They all are to worried about what gifts they are going to get. I believe that part of Christmas is for the kids strictly. I try not to buy something for the adults that is to expensive we have all agreed to give each other homemade gifts or something under $10. Last year my sister gave out candy she had made. Mom, Dad, and the grandparents you can not make understand that we are not kids anymore so they buy us stuff and say sorry we didn't buy as much as we use to. The dh and I have told evryone that we do not want anything other then to be with our family. This year the HotCocoa mix I made was something that we thought they whole family would enjoy. I was wondering if you all had the same take.
It depends. A number of my gifts have been store bought- though I re-discovered some alleged artistic talent and rendered a sketch depicting two relatives for mom. It's slated to be assembled into a frame and presented- all I'll have is a couple digital pics (one in the ol' gallery here) to remind me of it.
That is cool I am not artistic at all. I am the baker and cook of my family. Therefore if it needs to be good enough to eat the call me.
I bought a Jimi Hendrix stashbox and set of new acoustic strings for one friend, a dragon stashbox and some buttons with gothy-type fairies on them for another friend, an electric LED glowstick for my best friend who raves (and I made her a bracelet), and I plan on buying a guitar and a bike for Daniel at some point. I got some pajamas for my secret santa partner at work, and I plan on buying a hoodie for one of my friends at work. I dunno what else I'll get...usually my Christmas shopping runs over into after-Christmas sales. Haha.
Kinky, you sound like me I do not buy everything but I usually run past x-mas geting ready because we do not get with the dh's mom's family until new years day
People start complaining about everything so easily. I don't really care, as long as the money goes to something good.
Tis true, people do. It was Peta making the stink, and i think we can all work out their agenda. I've read anough testimonies from people in reciept of these 'gifts', to appreciate their opinion is the only one that truly matters. All the money raised from 'gifts' is just put in a pot, and spent in many varying ways anyway. Your money could find its way in the form of cement, lining a well. :H Seasons greeting. As you say, as long as the money is doing something good.
I Sent my mother to a Beauty Spa For Her Christmas Gift... She isn't much of a materialist Person at All... And I made Her Happy for One Day atleast...Which makes me Happy in Return...
