I am a very experienced person who hasn't touched hallucinogens for over 6 years until recently. Prior to that, I had eaten sheet after sheet of lsd (not all at once obviously, but hundreds of trips), shrooms, PCP, GHB, loads of E, had more than my share of coke, meth, weed, prescription painkillers, etc... tried heroin once (smoked).

All that said, I recently got curious about salvia. First I got some plain crushed leaf from a local head shop and smoked it rolled like a joint... three "joints" of it actually. It was a little stony but nowhere near what I would consider a "trip". The taste actually reminded me (from what I remember) of cheap crappy pot. So anyway, I thought it was interesting but I was really surprised that so many people called it a "trip".

After that, I decided to go ahead and grab some 10x extract from ***shaman and give that a shot trying to do it more correctly this time. Last night, I put a small pinch of that in a pipe with some regular leaf. I also mixed in some amanita muscaria for the heck of it... mainly scrapings of the white dots on top from the initial veil since I read somewhere that they were believed to be quite active but a little other material, as well.

I put the mix into a regular (non-water) pipe and held a regular lighter to it for about ten seconds and drew in a nice big hit which I held for about 20-25 seconds or so... that was it! That was all that it took and all that I could handle! I was really amazed after the first experience that this was so different and intense.

I got the often reported sensation of feeling like I was combined with the chair that I was sitting in. I completely lost consciousness of myself for a moment, though I believe that I was still completely eyes open awake. When my vision returned it was a stranger experience than I expected. I momentarily felt as though I was peeking out from between seats in a school bus (haven't been in one of those in nearly two decades). There was some percieved movement and shapeshifting or changing of stationary objects. I completely forgot where I was and may have even briefly forgotten who I am. I wanted to speak but I couldn't find the words. I wanted to hand the pipe and lighter to the person with me but had trouble doing so. Not so much liek I lost my motor skills but mroe like loing the mental operators manual for those skills. I say that because I could still do things but I had to try REALLY hard to figure out how to even stand up. I didn't feel like I could... and when I did I couldn't explain how I managed to walk across the room. I also started sweating profusely, which I understand is common... I can't help but wonder if it may have been increased by the presence of the amanita which I know has a similar effect when eaten.

All in all a very worthwhile experience, but one that I won't necessarily be eager to duplicate very soon... this extract will likely last quite some time... lol.

The fact that it was so intense that I am not eagerly looking forward to doing it again is very strange to me. I *LOVE* LSD and can pretty much never get enough of that so it surprises me that I feel this way about salvia... although, it has been 6+ years since I touched LSD too, so I might not be as into it anymore either.. who knows.. it just usually feels like I am more in control of my LSD trips...

    anwyay, there's my trip report...

the underlying simmilarity to lsd is hard to explain, both are impressive in different ways, charming, stunning, enriched, but it si easier to highlight the differences than what the essential similarity is.

A 6 minute salvia kaleidoscope of interpenetrating fragments of existence, begins and ends so suddenly that the person is often astonished and elated afterwards even having just observed how limited their capacity can be.

Lsd is a medicine that interferes with mind and sensation for an 8 hour period of time but usually at a much lesser intensity - though interpenetrating fragments of existence are certainly part of it.

Salvia is a medicine that always acts in a very short time window, producing no lasting inebriation. Very different, but both medicines increase fascination.

maybe the term halucinogen should be fascinogen.
