First get the British out of Ireland and then we'll talk.

Havent you heard of stormont the irish assembly with no ties to English politics?
    and the catholic church does????
yeah I never understood him much until recently when I realised what money grabbing illiterate arseholes they are. I hate catholicism with a vengeance. They never had a regard for human life nor cultural values and are just a money making organisation.
In the current climate of Britain which is rapidly putting atheism at the top of its agenda - they would be wise to play a more decent game.
They are bloodsuckers and their followers are and should get out of the country

Tell you what: You live seven generations, not be allowed to own property, not be allowed to marry, not be allowed to live where you want, go where you want and then tell me you trust ANY governing body. I'm afriad I'd have to call you a liar. So my original point stands. When the British get their hands off Ireland they can go back to pushing around Catholics in their own country.

why do you need so long to know a good thing when it happens? The British parliament is merely providing support and logistics and councelling to two factions of a country that are meeting for the first time since 1908 on reasonable terms. The British government has pledged its knowledge of politics and pulled its troops out. By golly when some madman who once smeared his cage with shit tried to blow stormont up last week it was the British who said - calm calm fellows calm - its a madman not a terrorist and all sides agreed - you seem out of step zoomie with the realities of whats happening on the ground with the peace process. However - once this peace process works lets have catholicism off mainland britain and get its turgid fecal preachings off this pleasant land and push it back to the mafia in rome where it belongs

You do not speak for all Irish Catholics, Parliament does not speak for Irish Catholics, because Irish Catholics have not had a voice since the Sinn Fein MPs of 1918 (who were never really recognized anyway).

Please do not misunderstand me. I have no particular fondness for the Vatican. It's as repressive a regime as North Korea. I am a Pagan, a Celt and yes, ethnicly Irish. But since Cromwell sent the Protestants into Ireland and took away all the rights of the Catholics, it has only been a war of beliefs on the face. It is truly a battle of oppression. The haves vs. the have-nots. That's where I have the problem. It doesn't matter if it's the Catholics and the Protestants, blacks and whites in South Africa, Tutsi against Hutu, Manchester vs. Liverpool (kidding). It's one people oppressing another.

In this case the oppressed happen to be Catholic. Cromwell created this problem, British policies have perpetuated it. It's time to let Ireland rule herself, state sponsored religion or otherwise. Catholicism in the UK is your problem. Oppression in Ireland is part of my heritage and it needs to stop.

OK now you're just being silly. That would be like trying to get the fuckheads out of England. They're both obviously the majority.

I agree and so does the British government. You have tto understand that the catholics were never excluded from taking part in a British assebly they absented themselves but all that is in the past now and the British government lost that war - the catholics won and now thankfully we can send all the catholics to ireland where they would be more welcome. Ireland - north and south - is heading toward self governance - eventually they will unite

Nice revision. Is that what they teach you in your british schools? The way the Japanese teach that they HAD to attack Pearl Harbor, it was a defensive strategy? Or the Russians rolled tanks into Czechoslovakia to PROTECT the sovereignty of the Czech people? Or that GW Bush is an intelligent, capable leader?

    I'm finished here.

Myself I think they're all as deluded as each other. But in Ireland the catholics impose a kind of outmoded moral order, or seek to.

'Protestant' england is much more liberal. But thats because religion doesn't have much influence in politics as it does in Ireland.
