more good fat and less carbs...which is dietary advice many vegetarians could probably benefit from. sugar and carbs(bread, potatoes, rice included) burn quicker than any other kind of food, like fat or protein. if you eat sugar and your metabolism doesnt run well on it, your body will burn the sugar right up and want more to keep burning it. but if you put fat in, it burns slowly, and in a much more balanced way. avocado(!) containing dishes, and olives+seeds+nuts are great. seeds and nuts containe nzyme inhibitors(hemp seed excluded) which will definatley inhibit your digestion and slow your appetite down some. cold pressed oils like organic olive oil, flax, and hemp oil are great too. almond milk is great. you can make your own almond milk easily at home with a blender and cheesecloth which is fun...and usually fresher than the other stuff. chocolate is great too. its fatty with good fat, and it has very strong appetite suppressant qualities with the maoi inhibitors it contains. the darker the better and if your intrigued to explore this more, explore raw cacao beans. its important to eat organic chocolate too, because a lot of chocolate are coming in from the ivory coast of africa where child slavery is present on many chocolate plantations. as usual, organic +fair trade is the way to go. chocolate is actually a nut botanically that can be eaten raw and its a total superfood, and a very potent noticeable appetite suppressant in my opinion. the best chocolate ive found=from rawfood.com pine nuts have been said to have appetite suppressant qualities but ive never noticed this obviously. kelp is excellent too, powdered kelp has 50 trace minerals. usually when people are hungry its because their looking for absorbable minerals vitamins dont have, and most processed food doesnt have. kelp usually hits one of those minerals and shuts the appetite off. good fresh organic green salad can do this to a lesser extent too. an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables ensures that you get all the nutrients you need so your body can tell your brain to stop eating because it has what it needs. a lot of over eating is caused by eating deficient food. green tea is an appetite suppressant too. preferrably organic.
bread and carbs just make me hungrier. i sugest fruits only for breakfast, it will give you sugars and vitamins to wake up and make it to lunch, without waking up your belly. then vegatables only for lunch, which will give you all the rest of your vitamins and energy as you finish up your day. for dinner eat huge, anything. this will give you all the stuff you need to put you to sleep and build some good protien overnight. stay away from fake sugars, which will wreck your metabolism. drink things like water, tea, coffee and wine and beer. mmmmmm beer.
i have gone days where i eat proteins and such but am still having a problem..i am recently vegan so my only guess is that i may be still used to filling up on dairy and thats not good!!
Werd, Lucy. V8 is great. I try and make my own juice, but when I don't have time or don't have any fresh veggies/fruits to utilize, V8 does the trick. Also, don't know how good it is for you, but a big ol' scoop of peanut butter quiets my stomach down. Until it's time for more peanut butter that is.
I'm seeing that you need more veggies and fruits with fiber! where are the tomatoes, the apples, the dark leafy greens, the onions, the mushrooms, the pears, the grapefruit? How much water are you drinking? (current recomendation is 1/2 your weight, then that many ounces.) my weight puts me just under 64 oz, so I still use eight eight ounce glasses daily.Plus teas, gatorade, juices, whatever. we tend to confuse hunger and thirst (said the nutritionist I interviewed just last week on this topic) so drinking enought water should equalize the system somewhat. nothing wrong with a late night snack. the body will burn what it gets, or store the calories as fat no matter what time of day they are eaten. fat is an abundance of calories for energy expended, period.
ui eat alot of veggies some days and others i crave carbs...not quite sure why that is but i have to have my cabs in order to not feel hungry anymore and the veggies dont do it....other days the veggies are all i crave..i dunno im confusing..lol
Yeah soluble fiber makes you feel full.. So that would be the skins of veggies and beans and well anything with any fiber. But also.. maybe you just eat dinner early. What time? Cuz if you think about it, some people eat at like 5 or 6 and then its no wonder you're hungry 3 hours later..
yeah i usually eat dinner at about 4:30 5:00 my husband has a thing about eating too late thinking you cant burn what u eat that late and that it makes u gain weight and so forth...i dunnoi if im eating too early and that may be my prob maybe i can fix that
You may want to try eating a little later. 4:30 or 5 is really early, no wonder you get hungry! I have heard that if you go to sleep on a full stomach it is more likely to be converted to fat instead of burned up, but I'm no expert... seems to make sense though. It really depends on when you go to bed and your metabolism. Fiber fills you up, so as others have suggested, try getting your fiber from fresh fruits & veggies. Beans are a great source of fiber and protein, too. There's definitely nothing wrong with a late-night snack. Nuts, fresh veggies/fruit, or a protein shake or smoothie are good snacks. If you're eating smaller portions than you used to, or even less dense foods, your stomach could have been larger and now it's shrinking. Most people's stomachs are actually stretched out because portion sizes in this country tend to be HUGE. Once your stomach shrinks back to normal the hunger may go away. I've heard it's better to eat several small meals rather than a few large ones, so as long as your portion sizes are small there is no harm in snacking throughout the day.
eating before bed will make you fat has been debunked. It could make you uncomfortable, contribute to acid reflux etc, but as I said above fat is an excess of calories, no matter what time of day you ate them.
Increase your fiber intake. Like 2 cups of grapes I am not a vegitarian but when I was on weight watchers they told me to increase my fgiber intake to keep from getting hungry and use less points. They were only 1 point per cup verses what raisens were.
tofu, peanut butter, and morningstar farm veggie burgers whenever I want a snack, I just take a jar of peanut butter and jelly mixed (especially the stripes variety, like goober, thats my favorite) and I stick a spoon the size of a table spoon in there and eat it. Make sure you don't double dip! Other people may want it too!
lol..thats the funny thing..my kitchen is divided in two...my food and my husbands and roomates food..i dont touch therirs and they wouldnt WANT to touch mine
try nuts or fruit smoothies and veggie just is great !!! and if i drink coffee, water, or tea that helps periodically too.. since iwent veg i'm always hungry so i have to eat like 5 small meals a day...
