These are a few of my pastel drawings. Tell me what you think, constructive criticism accepted!(as long as it's not tooo mean)
I am envious of anyone with visual artistic talent. I can play music pretty well, but I have zero talent for drawing, painting etc. nice work, truly
Hi! Lovely art work! what medium are you using? I like to paint with artcylic...You should be watchful for forshortening...especially in the 4th pic..its a bit off. I really like the pic of the girls back, it's so classy and sexy at the same time! congrates on a job well done! Maybe you could tell us about your inspiration for each of your drawings??
Excellent! yes.......that's a gas tank on my head http://hipforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=6504&stc=1
Thanks everybody! You've made me smile. To answer your questions, TheMistress, I use pastels. Not oil pastels, but the regular chalky ones, on computer paper. Yeah, forshortening is tough- were you referring to the girl's knee, when you said it's a little off? And my inspiration for each of them: the first one: I love babies, and i had a picture from somewhere, and i thought it was a good one to draw for practicing my shading. the others ones: mainly i look through magazines to find a figure, so i can get the proportions and shadows, but then i switch things around and change the person and the clothes and face. like the girl's back, for instance, i think i copied off a girl exercising in Shape magazine or something of the likes, I just didn't draw the sportsbra haha, and gave her long hair. The last drawing i did not use a picture as a model, i just made the face up as i went along, which is why it's the least realistic looking.
ophelia68977: Working with pastel is hard, I prefer painting myself. Yes I was refering to the knee and the arm that is behind her back when I said that. I'm no renaissance master myself but you asked for constuctive critisim so i gave it. I find that drawing from real life is easier because you can move and look at different agles and see the way the light bends better. I want to give you a word of advice that my grade 9 art teacher gave me, she said: " Remember to draw ONLY what you see, not what you know is there". It will help to keep this in mind while playing with forshortening.
