Get The Clash On Broadway. Its a 3 CD set with every song they ever wrote (including some previously unreleased stuff)
london calling IS an amazing album, you said it.... its one of my faves..... the album is like the beatles white album to me....... so many different styles of music is encompassed in london calling.... and it was a double album as well... oh man I need to listen to the cd at this moment, I havent heard it in so long....
Definetely get their self titled album, I prefer the UK version over the US version, but both are really sweet.
this used to be pretty much my favourite album like 5 years ago. still think it's great, the clash's masterpiece. love the classic cover with paul simonon about to destroy his bass
The esential clash is good, if youw ant a good selection of they're stuff. It's pretty ocmprehensive, about 40tracks.
NO WAY! The US version has White Man (In Hammersmith Palais), Clash City Rockers, Jail Guitar Doors, and I Fought the Law. Much better than What's My Name, Cheat, or whatever other songs were on the UK version. IMHO, of course.
I love their first album, raw and rough-edged (a bit like me... lol), London Calling is more mature and will always be considered a classic). That was one of the great things about The Clash, they had a bit more depth than most and weren't afraid to try something different, and so most of what they produced was worth more than one listen (well, until "Cut The Crap".....). But... IMHO, for what it's worth, I prefer "Give Em Enough Rope" - purely because it contains some of my all-time favourite songs - Safe European Home, English Civil War, Tommy Gun...
only like 2 songs on that one. i like when friends mix me shit fer bands i discombobulate. great they go all over the place, i feel raped buyin an album n i only like a couple.i never ask fer songs at shows thats cunty but if im buying shit.billy holidays ive bought 32 0f her cd tapes. just to get the 1 or 2 i want from each. but ide eat creamy shit out her corpsy ass.
London Calling" is the hit song off the album of the same name (London Calling, 1979) by the U.K. punk rock band The Clash; it is also the album's first track. This apocalyptic, politically charged rant features the band's famous combination of reggae basslines and punk electric guitar and vocals. "London Calling" by The Clash, from London Calling, 1979. 30 seconds, 616 KB... .The song was written by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones. The title alludes to the BBC World Service's station identification: "This is London calling ...", that was used during World War II, often in broadcasts to occupied countries. The lyrics reflect the concern felt by Strummer about world events with the reference to "a nuclear error" to the incident at Three Mile Island, which occurred earlier in 1979. The 101ers were better...bet you've never heard of 'em I didnt like London Calling...i thought it to be in the same ranks as Nevermind the Bullocks by the Sex Pistols...although not as trashy(and i would never burn the Clash albums...i have respect for them)...all in all its tolerable to listen to...
sadinista or combat rock are also very excellent the 101ers were good too, there's a collection you can get of theirs
