I've done a little bit of research on the subject and I can't get a straight answer. Everyone seems to disagree with everyone else. That's how I know it's all bull! Anyone smoke while they were pregnant and the child experienced ill effects? Can I please hear some of your guys' stories about your experience with smoking while pregnant. We're thinking of having a baby soon and we don't want to quite, but will do so for the baby.
I have known women that smoked while pregnant and there were no ill effects, but is it really something you want to risk? I wouldn't, because you don't know for sure what the result will be. Maybe others have been lucky. Maybe you won't be.
a pregnant woman that smokes anything should have her baby taken away. cloves, cigars, weed, whatever. think of how much smoke over a nine month period can affect a growing child. and even if 'studies' show it's not harmful, it's still smoke! would you shotgun a newborn? or put alcohol in his bottle? the very question is ridiculous.
Marijuana has been used medicinally by humans for thousands of years, including to ease the pain of childbirth. Smoking tobacco while pregnant is bad because the baby is born addicted to nicotine. But marijuana is non-addictive. On the other hand, if you smoke pot I'm pretty sure some of the compounds will pass thro the placenta into the baby's bloodstream. This may cause problems, possibly because the developing fetus becomes "used" to it.
perhaps ingestion of marijuana orally might be a better option if you're so addicted you can't stop for your baby's health. still it's not a good option, just better than smoke. even still, you're forcing your chemicals into the baby's body and that's not cool
Pot or any other drug, including smoking cigarettes and drinking is bad for the health of your child. It has nothing to do with addiction. It has to do with neural development and the effects of toxins in the mothers blood that can alter growth and with smoking it has to do with the amount of oxygen in the blood stream. Don't do it also because a lot of hospitals do drug testing if they suspect drug use and they will take your baby away.
everything that you ingest while pregnant will have an effect on the baby. some things cause worse effects then others like alchol or cigarettes. but smoking weed isn't highly likely to harm the baby but it still can. cannabis has however been used for centuries in the childbirth process form helping ease morning sickness to being used as a pain relever. i would suggest that you stop smoking while you are pregnant but once the baby is born start token up.
i would not smoke for a while if you decide to breast feed you will get the baby high and development can be altered
here's a thread with many replies from a few months back http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=193543 and another http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=109586 hope this help you get some answers
Why take the risk? Even if everyone 'thinks' there wont be any ill effects why would you add more risk of having a damaged child? There is a ton of risk in having a child with serious problems as it is, between pre-natal medications now being linked to autism, toxins in the air causing who knows what, why would you want to add one more potentially damaging thing to your body while pregnant? Trust me, take 9 months off, have the kid, and by that time your tolerance will be really low, and you can be blazed outta your skull.
Just because cannabis has been used for thousands of years in childbirth does not mean shit for the baby. Yeah, it'll help ease the pain, but for the mother, not the kid. It's not like they shotgun the baby as they spank it. Either way, it's not a wise idea to use drugs during a pregnancy. Whether it's cannabis, tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, it's not just your body, it's a highly developing body, which would react in a different way. Like 420fuchs said, put it down, wait until an appropriate time after the baby is born, and get blazed the fuck up.
it would be a very poor decision to knowingly expose your fetus to psychoactive chemicals. if a mother can't stop smoking weed for a baby, how the hell is she going to rear the kid? do expecting mothers not understand what kind of responsibility child-rearing is? don't even think about the sacrificies you'll be making, EVERY day! don't do it.
well i dont think that smoking pot while your pregnant is a bad thing as long as you dont smoke every day maybe once a week if even that. my sister she has four kids and with all four of them she smoked on a day to day basis and all four of them came out perfectly and they have no brain damage or nothing. but as one poster had put it she got lucky and maybe you wont. but the way i see it is as long as you are careful and dont smoke constantly then it's your decision to make. you have all the info and all the positives and negatives. so it's up to you. i can understand where your coming from cuz beleiveme there have been a dozen times where i just wanted to roll a nice fat joint and smoke it cuz i am so stressed and needed to relax or to help with the morning sicknes. but i decided not to cuz my bf would have be on my case throughout the rest of the pregnancy and he would hold it against me until the day i died. so i just deal with the uncomfortableness and stress so that my bf wouldnt have something to hold against me
I was really hoping for more then opinions, but almost all I got was opinions. I think that's partly because I chose not to give any type of background. The biggest problem with pot is that it doesn't have the medical studies that a lot of other drugs have. Atleast not that I can see. The only thing that I saw in this thread is a repeat of all the propaganda already dissemenated. Almost all of the propaganda has been put out by the government. It wouldn't be the first time the govenment has mislead the people. I've known many people that smoked while pregnant, without any ill effects on the fetus. What I was hoping for is for someone to say that they smoked while pregnant and it screwed up the development. I can't find 1 person that can honestly say that. I don't care too much what it might do. I know that any drug might have adverse effects on the developing fetus. I also know that a developing fetus can have bad stuff happen to it without drugs. It has nothing to do with addiction, and we are not too young for a child like some assume (I'm approaching the big 30, she's not much younger). It has everything to do with the enjoyment of being in a *slightly* altered state of mind. While this thread was disappointing, I did find out a smidgen of slightlty helpfull information. This warrants more research.
I'd be pretty cautious about smoking it, but I don't see anything at all wrong with eating it. I'll look around and see if I can find some articles though.
