well done, samhain. people are often too quick to jump on others for perceived slights. for that reason, very little is ever exchanged, shared or learned.
anyway going back to the purpose of this thread, I'll keep an eye out for this and post a review on here when i've watched it! S
Hedwig is great fun. There's some cracking music in that, too. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I'll write something about that when my brain's working again.
There's Breakfast On Pluto.... Cillian Murphy is quite good in it, I think.... and the book's a good read as well. I loved Birdcage and Boys Don't Cry! Excellent films, although the french original version of Birdcage I think is wildly better.
Some other good movies; Better Than Chocolate, an interesting trans character but beyond that a fun LGBT movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168987/ Different For Girls http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116102/ Orlando, not really transgendered but gender fluidity, excellent movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107756/ Soldier's Girl, I saw this at a trans day of remembrance event at a small local college. Calpernia Addams was there as speaker, very powerful. She said the movie was very accurate right down to some of the dialog, the only thing different is she actually lived in an apartment rather than a trailer park. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0324013/ Calpernia's website http://www.calpernia.com/soldiersgirl/
saw this the other night, Cillian Murphy is such a good actor and is so convincing in this role and very different to other things he's been in. also this film manages to deal with some shocking incidents but somehow is uplifting and funny at the same time, for people that dislike disturbing movies, this is very different to 'boys don't cry' it totally gets you thinking but doesn't leave you feeling like you've been put through a mangle at the end S
