what do you guys know about vegan inks for tatoos? What is in regular inks that make it not vegan? I really want to get a tatoo but one thing that's holding me back is knowing that it's not vegan ink. I was told that in order to get the ink you would have to order it. Does anyone have any ideas of good places to order the ink from or can my tatoo shop do that for me? Thanks for the help dudes!
Most inks are not vegan because they have animal based glycerine in them. There are a couple commpanies making vegan ink. I'm pretty sure starbright is vegan because my artist uses it and he's a hardcore peta person. Anyway, you could find an artist who already uses vegan inks. I'd ask to see the bottles to make sure, or you could ask the tattooist to order them for you. You will probably have to pay for the inks yourself if he special orders it, or maybe workout a way to pay him a little more becaues he can use the rest on other people. At any rate, expect to compensate someone who goes out of there way to help. peace
I don't know as I've never bought them mself. You can probably find out on google. How much the artist wants you to pay him is dependant on a couple things. How many colors. If all you want is black, you could probably buy the ink yourself and just bring it to him. The more colors you want, the more ink he will need to buy, so he will probably want more. Since there is no hard and fast rule, I'd just talk to the tattooist and see what he says. if he already needs to order new inks, he may just order vegan ones and not charge you. If, on the other hand, he needs to buy a whole set of vegan inks just for one tattoo, it could get spendy. Best of luck.
my artist assured me that mine were vegan inks. he showed me the catalog he used and sure enough they were advertised as being vegan. he said they cost the same same as normal inks.. so just dont get ripped off too badly. ;p
