In the spring I'm going to be studying at the University of Buenos Aires. I'll be there for at least six months, maybe longer. I'd appreciate it if people have any advice about: - Food - places to go - crime and safety - Dating and sex in Argentine culture - the political situation - Argentine spanish Thanks!
I could've sworn I responded to this... Here it goes again: - Food: steaks, empanadas, ice cream, dulce de leche - Places to go: San Telmo, Palermo (Hollywood & SoHo), Recoleta, Puerto Madero - Crime and safety: use your common sense and you'll be fine (watch your stuff when you're in a crowded place, stay away from certain neighborhoods at night, etc.) - Dating and sex: I'm not sure what you want to know exactly... ? - Political situation: things are pretty calm now. - Argentine Spanish: there are a few big differences between our Spanish and the one spoken in other regions, but if your Spanish is good, you won't have a problem, even if you don't talk like us. I actually have a podcast about this ("Desde el baƱo"). There are lots of other online resources you can check out before coming that I'm sure will help you.
