I hate TV, its mind gumming garbage that robs people of their creativity and imaginations, why think when this box is telling you what to think. Absolutly hate it. Except of course the few shows that do teach you... the rest is garbage. Mike...
How can you say that? What about intellectual programs like Dancing With The Stars? What about all those women-in-bikinis-eating-bugs shows? That's pretty educational. And don't forget about the three or four thousand "judge" shows on daytime TV: Judge Bob, Judge Leroy, Judge Nancy, Judge Tyrone, Judge Billy, Judge Tammy, Judge Carl, Judge Frank, Judge Lela, Judge Tiffany, Judge Bart, Judge Ken, Judge Danny, Judge Jimmy, Judge Diana, Judge Oscar. Celebrity gossip shows too! Oh, and What Not To Wear: that's a show that really proves Americans enjoy intellegent entertainment and can think for themselves!
That's the greatest thing about a TV.........it has an OFF button. Don't like it? Don't watch. What a country!!!!
word I enjoy tv. But there are very few shows I actually care about enough to download if I miss them on the tele. Ok, one. Why would you come into the tv forum to bash tv? Perhaps it should be in protest, to protest the use of tvs? Damned if I know.
Yep. It rings of the people who go into the Veg Forum and talk about how Yummie Meat is, or the WIF and talk about what Bitches all womyn are, or go into the parenting forum and tell people to stop breeding. You are right, ihmurria, there is a lot of crap on TV, but once in a while it is a good distraction. No worse than the internet. Just some self discipline has to be done, in regards to what to watch. No Judge shows or shows with people dancing. Or people eating bugs or offal. Bleh.
Hehehe, I like dance shows. Well, the so you think you can dance competition. But that's because I enjoy dance and we very rarely get any dance troupes of any caliber around here... and if we do it's solely ballet, never modern or jazz (my two fav kinds to watch). I know it has little to no depth, it's purely an enjoyment of aesthetics for me.
Oh, I'm down with TV, as long as your learning something from it. I mean I have this neighbor who wont get off his fat ass (unless its to go to a fast food joint) So he can sit there and watch this mind zombifying crap all day and night long... and theres many more. I hate the fact that parents suck ass today too, letting the box be their companion through all their young years, which develops a habit and now you have worthless adults sitting on the couch watching tv all day long... what a waste of some great minds, but then again we live in america right, we have the right to watch tv all day long and become fat asses if that is what we choose.
LOL! I can't dance. That's probably why. (Unless you count tripped out Grateful Dead Spinning.) If you are into dance, I can see why you would like it, My dh and I are musicians, and we like American Idol, most people HATE that show, but, if you know good music, and a good voice, it's fun. But, I can understand, if you are a dancer.
ehhhhhh I'm not really a dancer. I enjoy dancing at the bar, I used to be in belly dance years ago, but I just find that it's really gorgeous to watch. I like watchign figure skating and gymnastics too, but dance tends to be more artsy, less worried about the technical bits
"Is TV just a propaganda tool or chewing gum for the mind? Discuss TV programming and it's affect on society." Quoted from the sub description of the forum... so, not really the same as bashing the veggie fourms as this forum is for debate... But dont let me disturb you, I'm sure some reality show is on right now that has you on the edge of your seat with your brain turned off...
TV is just brain candy, no more no less, and a little candy is nice some times. But just like too much candy; too much TV can turn you into a fat, lazy slob (physicaly AND mentaly). Personaly the daily show and the colbert report are the only shows I watch regularly. I find them to be the most palatable way to take in the news, otherwise it (the news) can make me depressed. Janes Addiction Quote:" ...and the news is just another show about sex and violence."
...Judge Paul, Judge Ted, Judge Kim, Judge Chad, Judge Newman, Judge Albert, Judge Leroy, Judge Louis...
id have to disagree with your opinions. i have the TV on 10-16 hours a day, everyday, since i was very young, and I'm a very intelligent, healthy, young man. its not the TV's fault people cant control themselves, mentally and physically, its that individuals fault. everything starts with a conscious choice, if you choose to "eat all day" and "sit in front of the TV all day", then thats your decision. it has nothing to do with the TV, the TV will always be there, if you watch or not. though i can agree that watching TV forms a habit, which may be hard to break, but that still doesn't mean the TV will make you stupid or even lazy. i make the conscious decision, to have the TV on all day, to still be active, to have multiple hobbies, to have multiple talents, and to increase my intelligence everyday. i find it funny that many here claim to be the smart, "i only watch educational programs", types, yet they can't even look at the subject objectively and not stereotype all TV watchers.
...Judge Dilbert, Judge Nelly, Judge Carlos, Judge Jeff, Judge Jose, Judge Sherry, Judge Paul, Judge Sally...
Yea, those types of shows just encourage people to fight with each other, and then to believe that the government can solve all of their problems/disputes. What a bunch of mindless crap.
...Judge Capernicus, Judge Wally, Judge Fernando, Judge Weldan, Judge Cooper, Judge Parker, Judge Greg, Judge Winston...
