I have noticed that there is a definate trend in the people I date; such as they tend to be slightly athletic, smaller than me, brunette, intellectual, etc. I was wondering if there have been any studies done that indicate why you tend to go towards specific people or characteristics. I really don't try to descriminate based on these criteria, it just seems to be a pattern. Or do any of you have any idea of why people have trends and what they mean? Thanks!
Nobody has any idea why it happens. There are a lot of theories (Freud thought it had to do with your parents, and that you become attracted to people who look or act a lot like your parents; some people think people are more attracted to those who are most like themselves; and other people think people are more attracted to those who have specific qualities that compliment their own) -- but they're all across the board and no one knows which are right versus wrong. All I can say is that it seems to happen to everyone. I know it's happened to me (I've been with guys who were almost exclusively tall, thin, sensitive-seeming, and deeply wounded) -- not on purpose, just ... because that's how it's shaken loose.
I usually date the wolves in sheep's clothing, the wolves, and normal people whom I later turn into wolves.
i can't really think of any trends in the people i've been with. most of them were slightly younger than me, but that's only because my bday is in august, so i'm older than nearly everyone in my class.
but i've also heard that girls go after guys that remind them of their father. but i don't think that's true for everyone. my boyfriend is nothing like my dad.
Well, the first chick I dated had huge breasts but was a real bitch and a bit of a loon... since then I make sure they are nicer people with kindness and a little common sense! They tend to be smaller in the tit department, but for me its more about avoiding the mental cases. Its not that I totally avoid buxom women, just thats lower on my list of what I am after from a relationship. Looking back on the big breasted loon, thats one trend I am really glad i reversed! lol
Attracted by the father/like does not have to be for similarity in pysical appearence, it could be for the similar inners i think. Mine would be feminine, emotional, and senseual ladies whom are little shy. ok. - and preferably white skin (not ice white) and roundish. Black or brownish hair.
the first guy i dated was 2 years younger than me and really goofy....he rubbed me the wrong way and said bye bye after a week...years go by and im starting to like the older types....my best friend steve...we went out for a year and he was 19...then onto matt who was a hardcore rocker lol also 19..then max whose oddly a skateboarder...which never in my life id go out with one lol but yes we've been going out for 8 months now
Brown hair, Green eyes, and I seem to be a sucker for half-Italians... and I dont know why cause I swore them off a couple of times and now am gonna marry one. A bit crazy, well travelled, bit of experimentation with altered consciousness, shy, deep. Always the same in those departments but then again I have also always known what I want in a partner.
Brunette - big trend in Asian or half Asian girls (so beantiful eyes, such a nice skin!) Not too big breasts, and NATURAL! Why on hell are soo many girls putting some NASA designed structures under their skin???!
big tits usually do equal craziness now that you mention it and I look at myself and people I know. I guess it's a trade off eh? But I still say crazy girls are freaking hot.
