anti smokers

I dont know what it is with all the bashing of smokers, I wonder if anti smokers even take into consideration that there are alot more things out there that cause cancer than smoking. Like factory polution, pesticides, the crap chemicals they add to your food, ingredients in shampoo and soaps. Heck it wasn't long ago I heard that they are finding that milk causes cancer and dont forget about the cancer gene that runs naturally in most families.

They act like eliminating smoking will eliminate cancer, now Im not saying that it's the wisest thing in the world to smoke. It's not, smoking I agree is not really good for you, but what im seeing is alot of people blowing everything out of porportion. I love my cigars and pipe and will never give them up. I only smoke on my own property or if im at somebodies house where they alow it.

I feel I have a right to smoke on my own property regardless of what anybody else thinks.

Please understand, im not trying to be a jerk here but i just had to stand up for my right to do as i please on my personal property, Just had to get how I feel out.:sunglasse

 

i dont' care if people smoke - smoke to your hearts content. i don't agree with smoke bans for the most part either.

just don't blow it in my face...if ya do, i reserve the right to knock your teeth out

 

yeah, but all that shit isn't forced down our throats, whereas second hand smoke is nearly unavoidable in closed in buildings. I'm glad that our city doesn't allow smoking indoors in public buildings anymore, makes me happy. I'll admit I dont' really like visiting my bf's place (especially if sleeping over there) because I wake up smelling like an ashtray - his two roommates and him all smoke, ick

 

I don't like it because I don't like having smoke blown in my face. I am selfish that way and I am not ashamed to admit that I love living in California because of all the smoking bans that we have.

I don't care if people do it when they are not around me, but I am so glad that I can now walk around campus without always being right next to someone blowing smoke in my face. And before you say anything, I would always try to get away from it, but there was always someone else.

 

Now you are reasonable, blowing it in others faces is something i dont do. To blow smoke in anybodies face would be disrespectul. I can understand somebody getting really pissed over something like that. Even with me being a smoker, if somebody else blew there smoke in my face I would also be pissed.

All I basically ask for is my own space for my habit, I always do my best to respect other non smokers, it's just the types that try to barge into your home or personal property and blow things way out of porportion that I get upset about.:sunglasse

 

people can do whatever they want in their own homes so far as I'm concerned. but my bf says he wants to quit and when we started dating I told him he'd have to have lots of breathmints if he was a smoker an dwanted to kiss me *shrugs* making out with an ashtray just isn't my idea of a great time, sorry

 

Hi ihmurria, I dont smoke in resturants or public places outside like parks. I do smoke in my vehicle though. Of course in my vehicle or places far away from others the smoke will rise up into the atmosphere before it gets near anybody else. I feel that I do have a free right to smoke on my own personal property that I am paying for is all. Just like you also have the right to not have it on yours.:sunglasse

Now if somebody came to my house and told me that the smoking bothered them and they were nice about it, I would actually put it out and venilate the place for them.

The way I took it you are talking more about the smoking indoors in public buildings.

To clairify im basically just asking to have the right to do it on my own property.

I think really you and I are on about the same level as far as where I or others should be alowed to smoke. I dont smoke in public places so you and i would have no problem there.

I take it by what you said that you dont smoke and thats fine too. At the same time nobody is going to come on my private property and tell me I cant smoke there.

 

Yeah, I never really cared for cigarettes. Besides the fact that they cause cancer, I just don't see what the big deal is. Everytime my Mom lights one up, I just look at her and say "you look real fucking awesome with that paper stick hanging from your lips". I only say it cause she laughs everytime but I know she leads a stressful life and of course when she started smoking 36 million years ago, it was only because she thought it was cool, now it's just something that she's addicted to and she doesn't know how to quit. I don't really think she's motivated because were all gonna die anyway. Now n days with bird flu and west niles and everything else that's going on. Who fucking knows, cigarettes might fight against the bird flu, or at least give you more time to dwell in this crappy place called earth.....The tree's are lovely but soon they will all be chopped down and then we won't be able to breathe.... And that's all I gots to say about that...

Sounds fair to me Duck, everybody has there own personal opinion on the matter and im not standing in the way of that.

My father is 55 years old, been smoking 3 packs a day since he was a young one. His doctor about fell off his chair when he got the results back from dads physical. He had exrays of the lungs and breathing test. My dad has the lungs of a 21 year old man, even after all that smoking all his life. The doctor was totally amazed, I personally think though it affects each individual differently, some naturally handle it better.

 

have you seen all the old coots still alive and kicking smoking since they were 10?
second hand smoke kills worse than smoking it yourself
i smoke occasionally, but i'm certainly not addicted and i haven't smoked in months, couldn't careless i still have a pack somewhere too
i like that my mom who is really allergic to smoke can go to restaurants now, but i hate that you can't smoke in bars...i don't see why there can't be a special room in public places for smokers so they don't have to freeze their ass off outside yet they don't bother the other customers...
but maybe that's just my canadianess, try an make everybody happy

 

I use to smoke swisher sweets but I never inhaled, so I never became addicted. I only did it so I could fit in with the people at work who smoke at break. Cigarettes give me a headache so I stuck with the swisher sweets...

 

Hi indian summer, that's a beautiful name, I like it. Yeah they could come up with better ideas for public resturaunts maybe a closed off section with strong ventilation would be great, then I would smoke in them.

I have seen alot of old people still out there smoking like a chimney. Of course George Burns is gone now but he went through 25 boxes of elproducto queens cigars a month and lived to be over 100 years old, unreal. I have seen many really old people that smoke like chimneys.

what do you guys get from smoking? i hear it it doesnt alter your mind but it has to doesnt it? i mean, people go crazy without there smoke. does it give pleasure? and if it does can you explain it? just hearing about all the chemicals in that stuff just makes it sound so unappealing.

 

it gets you kinda high, in a non-drunk sort of way. some people get hyped up on it, i got really sleepy on it, so i smoked to calm down. the problem was that it made me not eat, like, at all. so i'd gain weight instead of losing weight like so many other women. it was that or xanax, and to be honest, i really hate xanax. but, again in all honesty, cigarettes were worse.
