best way to clean my pieces?

does anyone has ways to clean their pieces that they think work the best? im used to just scraping the resin out with a bobby pin and then soaking it in water for a few days.. it works for me, but what does everyone else do?

 

put the piece in a plastic baggie, put in iso alcohol and salt and then shake. thats the best way to clean the pipe

 

You can always boil it.

 

yeah boil or you can always buy a cleaning chemical..formula 420 is great...but alcohol works too just as well.

 

i thought formula 420 was a cleansing solution to pass a drug test...

Form 420 b/c of its smell and it doesnt leave behind a funky taste...

Scrape it. Then boil it in water. I wouldn't trust any chemicals... at all

 

I like to use the alcohol/baggie method, let it evaporate, and save the resin. Might as well.

 

i don't want to use any chemicals.. i don't want alcohol on my piece and then smoke out of it.

Dear god definitely no chemicals! Yikes.
Scraping it and then rinsing well would work, and boiling even better. Alcohol would clean it even more, and you wouldn't need to worry about inhaling any cause it'd wash out really easily with water. Even like drinkable alcohol, if strong, would work well--like a little vodka, hehe. But basically just you could soak it in that and then just rinse out a few times with water. That'd clean it well and get ALL alcohol out.

Also, keep a flame on it for a little while before scraping with a pin/paperclip and it'll help some.

 

all i do is run water through it then use q-tips and wipe off most of the res.

 

I use Q-tips first to pull out as much resin as possable. Then I'll put my finger over the bowl part & blow though the mouthpiece to force more resin out. Then I do the same but blow into the carb forcing it out of the mouthpiece. That usually works for me. If the pipe is still dirty, run hot water though it & use q-tipsto help pull it out of the pipe. Hope this helps. I've been doing this for over 10 years now with no glass breakage.

 

thanks fo all this help guys.. my first pipe i ever had has never never cleaned.. hehe. mostly because i got new ones.. i want to clean it and give it to my sister as a present.

 

when i clean my bowl, i get a little container, put the bowl inside, and pour some Isopropyl alcohol into the container. i pour enough to cover the bowl and the carb. i let it sit for about an hour, moving it now and then to get the loose resin out. after i let it soak, i'll get some q-tips and get the rest of the res out, then run it under some warm water. it leaves the bowl looking brand new, no bad taste, and the first use afterwards will be one of the best smokes you've had. works good every time.

 

i soaked my bowl in water and dawn dish soap for a few hours then cleaned all the resin off with a q- tip
it worked really well, my bowl looked new
