I'm planning on adopting a female friend for my male rabbit, Jellybean. I'm getting him fixed in Febuary of next year, and I plan on getting him a girlfriend in May-June and she will also be fixed. I've read a little on bonding...but anything you guys could tell me would be helpful.
Oh were going through a nightmare experience with our bunnies at the moment. We had three, and bonding each of those was fine. Then was adopted another little female, but the problem was shed lived alone her whole life before. And now shes frightened to death whenever we try to bond them and the others tear her apart...i think she may have to live separatly for the rest of her days However like i said the others were fine...to begin with therle could be lots of grunts, foot stamps, chasing and even some fur flying around...but eventually, they SHOULD settle. It depends on the bunnies...it varies
What i would say is try to make them meet on neutral ground, not where your bunny at the moment is living...also, break them up if it starts to look too nasty
Bonding our two rabbits went really well; I think it is easier if you're introducing a female to a male (as females are more territorial). We did it the other way round and have a few issues [Branwen kept biteing Casey], but now they are utterly inseperable. So I would totally recommend having two of them, good luck. http://www.rabbitnetwork.org/articles/bond.shtml
I'm hoping it goes well. Jellybean doesn't seem territorial at all. So thats good. He does growl though...if you put your face next to his...but thats the only time... Thanks for the site *reads*
