microfragmented mineral remains (rock dust, composition 65% or greater SiO2) and mixed with organic decay particles (sufficiently high organic component = soil, in which to grow things, sufficiently low = sand such as to bind cementinous aggrigations).

the stuff we walk on, or the stuff under the stuff we put on top of it, has been far too neglected in our hearts and minds for far too long. heat the silicates sufficiently and they will form a liquid that acts like a solid when it cools, commonly refered to as glass, though not neccessarily, unless it's really pure, the kind of clear glass we put in windows. at this level of heating, in the thousands of degrees, the organics burn off or become carbonized.

household dust often has a much higher level of organics then what we tred beneath our feet on the forrest path. the organics in houshold dust contributed to by microscopic dead flakes of our own skin, and likewise broken bits of our hair. of course the heavier atmospherinc fines settle out in the relatively still air in our domiciles as well.

the dirt beneath our feet is the noblest of all substances for it tolerates our tread.
yet, given our thoughlessness, even it is capable of growing weary.
