Just the other day, I noticed some tenderness in my groin area, felt around and located a mass a little larger than the size of say, a grape. I also had my husband check, and he too said there was definitely a mass there, pretty deep within. It is able to be moved, but hurts quite a bit at this point, not unbearable, but enough to cause discomfort. My lower back has also been aching quite a bit, I've been pretty tired but not sure if that's a symptom of how busy I've been lately with the holidays and taking care of my kids who have all been sick with a stomach virus, and I'm not sure if the swollen lymph node would have anything to do with the back pain I've had a lot of the past few days.

But...anyone else here experience something like this? I've gotten swollen painful lymph nodes in the armpit area before and they've gone away, my oldest son gets swollen lymph nodes when he gets a cold or the flu as well and his doctor said that some people are suseptible to that and it's no need for concen, but he's never complained of pain and I'm definitely having pain.

I'm a little scared I must admit. Mainly afraid of some type of septic infection, although I did reasearch and it's quite possible my body is fighting off infection (since my kids have been sick).

Any ideas? I hate that my doctor won't be in the office until Monday, I've had this going on since about Thursday and of course they haven't been in the office since then due to the holiday, but I don't think it warrants a trip to the ER.

    Thoughts?

Stress can cause it too, but it wouldn't hurt to get it checked out. Something like that it is not worth taking chances. I hope everything turns out ok.

I don't know, I hadn't thought about Lyme Disease. I haven't been anywhere that I would have been in contact with any ticks.

It could be flu related, since two of my children recently had a stomach virus. I'm hoping that's all it is. I'm sure they'll draw some labwork on me to see what my white cell count is.

If you get a bikini wax or anything, and the hairs were pulled the wrong way it could cause ingrown hairs resulting it rather large bumps, which you have to get drained and such....

read it in a mag lol

Well, after seeing a total of seven different doctors, yes, seven, because I ended up being sent to the emergency room on Monday by my primary care physician due to the pain and swelling getting worse even with antibiotic treatment (I had gone in to see the nurse practioner the Monday before that). My doc was afraid it was an abscess in the lymph node.

After seeing a surgeon yesterday, he's concluded that my body has been fighting off some type of infection, that could have been due to a numerous amount of reasons, anything from ruptured sebaceous cysts, viral infections, infections from shaving. Basically, the lymph node went into attack to fight off whatever was going on. No abscess, which was good.

There was a scare that it could be cancer, but thankfully, the surgeon says that the mass is pliable and not cancer. Thank goodness! Worst case scenrio, if things don't improve (which they already have been improving the past several days) or get worse, he will remove the lymph node that is causing the problems.

So I'm just trying to rest and take it easy, and I go back to see the surgeon on Tuesday so that he can check the progress, but he thinks we should see an improvement.

I am glad to hear that it's not cancer. That is a scary thing to go through. I hope it gets better quick.

Nah, if it were cancer, the lymph nodes would have been pain-free.
