ive been listening to alot of livetronica in the past few months. What are some bands i should give a listen to?
um the standards on the jam scene are: Disco Biscuits (not my favorite. very guitar drive) the New Deal (highly popular. house oriented, pretty smooth) Pnuma Trio, Brothers Past and just about every other band that has played Camp Bisco in the last two years. Honestly lots of bands have begun using this genre a bit. Even stringcheese. If you would like check out my own "livetronica" band..well...kinda. I play keys in a group called Jungle Jazz Initiative, its like electronica and jazz, some house and trance but more breakbeat and jungle oriented. http://www.myspace.com/thejunglejazzinitiative P.S. If livetronica is new and exciting to you deffinatly listen to SquarePusher. Although it is just one guy making music with computers, that one guy is so talented at playing multiple instruments that his compositions and style really tend to go over well with the hippie/electronic crowd.
<333 that shit! THE NEW DEAL are absolutely fantastic, they have an amazing and unique sound.. fuckin brilliant techno jams using bass, keyboard n drums. also, theyre from my hood - toronto! disco biscuits are definately one of the biggest names and theyre pretty sick. but you gotta check out Sound Tribe Sector 9! STS9 makes some of the trippiest, spaciest, danciest live electronic music out there. they take a while to grow on you due to the ambient nature of some of their jams but the soundscapes they create wash over you and reach this totally orgasmic climax !
"STS9" for sure. they are the top dogs. they make Disco Biscuits sound like a rock band. heheh, just kidding. but they do have a heavier livetronica kind of sound. also "Lotus" is a very upbeat livetronica band, i can't wait to see them again at Sea of Dreams, with SCI (who i hope serves up a nice dish electro-grass......i know Nershie is more down with pure grass, which i love to, but i love what cheese did with bluegrass....good stuff.....
I saw Lotus open for STS9 and frankly I thought they were a better band. At least for that one night...
