i dont normally post and im shite at explaining things, so bear with me ok, Ive had my sleeping bag for 4/5 year and its been incredible. Ive taken it to plenty of music and beer festivals along with juggling conventions and many many camping trips. however over the years its taken alot of abuse in the form of holes forming in the outer/inner layers. Because i only had materials that were with me at the time some of the holes were repaired with duct tape and some simply melted together ( i know, i know, desperate times and all that). Ive now patched most of the holes with bits of old clothing so no more insulation is leaking however ive lost a large amount of it over time, which makes my sleeping bag which used to be incredible less than satisfying when it comes to a warm nights sleep. my question is are there any lightweight materials (that will still enable my bag to go in its stuff sack) that i can use to replace it. Is spare sleeping bag insulation avaiable at camping stores or could i use something cheaper/better? thanks for any help johnny
Johnny, go to www.questouttfitters.com and order a yard of primaloft. one yard of 4ounce is about $10 and it should make any repairs you need to make. You might also consider ordering a yard of nylon or fleece to repatch. Hope that helps.
thanks for the help mate sadly i dont have a bank account but im blessed with an army surplus store and many campshops nearby so ill make a few phone calls. people have told me i should just get a new one but its sad to part with all the memories you know? i have alot of time on my hands nowadays so i may give it a complete overhaul, put in a second layer and look into other possibilities, plus i like getting crafty. anything else you can reccomend? itd be nice to have all my warmth in one small stuff sack johnny
