Ocala Gathering

Im from Baton Roube LA and all this talk about the ocala gathering is alittle discouraging !!! this would be my first gathering and i really wanted to make a two week bike trip there. should i wait until nationals in the summer? would this be a more memorable first gathering?

ive been going for about 20 yrs now with the exception of a few yrs.
A gathering is just that, a gathering. theres always gona be all kinds of people to meet and enjoy the company of,
my wife is from Alexandria,La so youd allready have a friend from close to home,come on down
The weathers usualy great with a huge full moon to guide you down the white sandy trails whilst listening to the beat of nearby drums,and cherrfull i love yous hollerd out throught the woods..

im homesick just thinking bout it. hope to see everyone there

I have stumbled upon the Ocala gathering once a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I camp out there with my dogs all the time. I usually go pretty remote, but no cops or anyone else have ever bothered me.

 

Hey Mama, aren't you friends with some of the fat kids. I think maybe we have some mutual friends. Anyway, the last Ocala gathering was awesome and I'm looking forward to Feb in FL. Baton Rouge is already on my list of possible places to stop on the way there.

..if u can make it to both national and ocala thats the best thing..ocala will be a nice 1st since its small and cozy and the national can be massive and mindboggling
biut if its an either/or choice..go to national

When I was in AZ,for about 6-7 yrs I saw a couple rattlesnakes but never had any problems and I've been in FL for about 4 months now and have not seen any alligators yet except on TV.
Maybe if I'm lucky I can get up to this gathering.

Never been to a gathering of any sort but I love camping and drumming and I think it could be a lot of fun. I live in the south so Ocala would be easier than going to say Colorado or the west coast. I can probably only hit Ocala for about three days - the 17-19th. Is it worth going for three days? Would I be better off waiting till June and going to the big gathering instead since it is my first one? Is there any chance that the national gathering will be on the east coast? I do not plan on doing anything illegal, don't use any substances at all, and my car should be in good working order - should I still expect to encounter a hassle from local / federal people when I arrive? Thanks for answering my many questions.
