so whats your favorite food during the munchies? salty, sweet, whats ur favorite product, type of food, anything!

personally its sort of become a ritual for me to eat crackerjacks whenever ive got the munchies.. its not the best, but for some reason the fact it never completely satisfies me makes me want it. its really odd.

i really wanna try making that weed oil or butter or brownies and eating shit made with that while ive got the munchies.. that ought to fuck you up silly. sounds fun!

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups always hit the spot.

Can't beat some nice Little Debbie cakes either.

I also like to chug a bottle of maple syrup and eat seasoning salt straight out of the jar.

    Cheesecake.

    Popcorn.

    Nachos.

An assortment of Ben & Jerry's ice creams.

    McDonald's french fries.

    Chicken Nuggets.

Grilled cheese sandwiches, sometimes with ham or bacon cooked in between two slices of cheese.

    Bacon.

    Ham.

    Subway sandwiches.

Chocolate chip cookies with peanut butter spread on top of them and dipped in milk(regular or chocolate milk).

    Oreos.

    Wise Honey barbecue potato chips.

    Chicken quesadillas from Taco Bell.

    Many many more.......

Dammit man. I forgot about the gold fish crackers and cereal. I like to eat frosted flakes straight out of the box. I once ate an entire family sized box of frosted flakes by myself in one sitting. Good times.

I suggest you try drinking some maple syrup.

here is some amazing information that will interest all stoners who are interested in their munchies

We have all been tought that there are four flavours, Sweet, bitter, sour, and salty. many of us will remember seeing at least once in our lives a diagram of the tongue showing where we detect these flavours. many of us also probably know that a very small portion of the 'flavours' that we associate with foods are actually smells, and the tastes themselves comprise of only our basic flavours.

without ranting on about how the tongue diagram is refutable, the more important fallacy of education is this:

we dont have 4 basic tastes, WE HAVE FIVE!!! 5! V! and the thing that makes this interesting is that western culture has not recognised this basic chemical taste until very recently, so recently that there is no english word for it. We thus have to adopt the Japanese word for this flavour, which they have recognised along with other asian cultures, for a bit longer. It is a savoury flavour, described as meaty or saucy. the word is funny too, it is..

    UMAMI

now lets backtrack a bit. we know that sugars contribute to sweet flavours, sodium chloride (NaCl) contributes to salty flavours, acids contribute to sour flavours, and more complex alkaloids and the like contribute to bitter flavours. the amino acid Glutamate contributes to the umami flavour.

now, as a culture, we are very used to adding certain stock ingredients to acheive more of a certain flavour, to enhance foods.
    here are some examples:
we add sugar to increase sweetness
we add salt to increase saltiness
we add lemon juice or vinegar to increase sourness
we add tonic water, or other bitters to increase bitterness (though this tends not to be in food)

so WHAT on earth can we add to increase the levels of glutamate in our food?

we can add sodium to glutamate to make Monosodium Glutamate.

so why has it taken so long for us to realise this? well actually it hasnt. most delicious savoury snacks we buy from the supermarket include a taboo chemical known as MSG or flavour (621) here in australia, also known as 'hydrolised protein' or 'yeast extract'.

Embrace MSG! for it is as fundamental to our flavours as sugar, salt, and vinegar!

of course, for the hippies among us, adding processed ingredients is a no no. well, glutamate is naturally found in many foods that we eat. it is found in tomatoes, cheese, soysauce, and also to a lesser degree, paultry, meats, broccoli

i bloody well hope this has enlightened some of you because this information has changed my liffeeee

    well sorta

enough for me to buy some pure MSG to add to my cooking when appropriate.

ps. some people are allergic to MSG. poor people. sorta like the people who are allergic to peanuts. or the children who become hyperactive after eating the preservatives in bread

Isn't MSG carcinogenic though? I believe so. Not like we don't consume it daily, but why purposely add more of a carcinogen to the amount we already consume? Just throw some hot sauce on that shit.

dude. if you ask the right people, youll find that ANYTHING is carcinogenic. unless its an industrial product, its -probably- bs that it is carcinogenic.

think about it this way, teh foods i listed contain glutamate. normally we eat these foods with salt. salt contains sodium. and so, whenever we eat those foods with salt, we are eating sodium and glutamate, which if you extracted, would form Monosodium Glutamate, ie, MSG

I know man, but you said you purchased PURE MSG. I was just confoosed as to why you would PURPOSELY add pure MSG, which is a SUPPOSED, if not proven, carcinogenic substance to the amount that is already contained in the foods we eat. But you're right, we consume many supposed carcinogenic substances, as it is.....so disregard my last couple of posts. lol
