Ok - some mellow ambient sounds are very chilled and relaxing, but I think that whoever put the subtitle on this forum probably doesn't listen to a lot of trance or go to many parties where it's being played.

Let's face it - pumping trance is DANCE music.....good to listen to as well, but wtf...it just works so well on the dancefloor. Esp. when the chemistry is right ;)

Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest....after all, we wouldn't want the kids to get mis-informed.........and that header just doesn't convey the thing.

Maybe Ambient should be in the 'experimental' forum?

If you like dancing on psychedelics(especially speedy acid!) get yourself Infected Mushrooms "I'm the supervisor". It's dark yet funkadelic and will make you dance like a bell-end in the dark. If you want the most profound experience of your life then buy Shpongles "Tales of the inexpressible" and dont listen to it untill your stoned on something. Even if you listen to it on weed it will take you to DMT hyperspace and back!

Infected Mushroom ALL THE WAY!!!! cities of the future (and the countless number of remixes!), gamma goblins, deeply disturbed, extasy, overload, lsd, dracul and tasty mushroom are my favourites by them.

music that relaxes me - a birtish band from 70s to this day with over 20 studio albums - OZRIC TENTACLES. sample "kick muck", "meander", "white rhino tea", "oolite groove" and "pyramidion" - well worth checking out ESPECIALLY if you're stoned or tripping!

The current trend at uk psy parties is to have an 'other' soundsystem, playing anything from breaks, tekno, gabber, house w/e. Traditionally psy parties would have (and many still do) a chill room playing psy ambient, dub etc etc So trance and ambient do go together in the traditional party sense. Also many psytrance DJ's are ambient DJ's as well.
Much ambient music can be very trippy and send you into a trance but might not be classed as experimental.

It's wrong if it gets lumped in with TRANCE trance, if you know what I mean. Shitty hands-in-the-air euro club tiesto shittyshitshit trance music made as a product to sell to morons with obvious melodies and very little creative input. That's more straight up DANCE music to me if you know what I mean. I know essentially psy is dance music also and am under no impressions that it's aligning my chakra's to the resonance of the earth but there is a different attitude in the 'scene' to that of other dance genres.

I dunno. In the states they call all dance music Techno. It's a moot point I suppose....

Sorry to be the pedant as ever but these are Hallucinogen tracks.

Their first album was '89 :p but they are undoubtedly a good band. Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton (former Ozrics members) formed Eat Static, a seminal psy edm project, even better than Ozrics IMO!

VERY well put indeed. I respect all kinds of music...especially EDM's huge family of children...but damn...just...damn. :D Some of her kids just drive me nuts...in a bad way! :D

And as for trance music in the sense of the dancefloor, there's a difference between a trance put on to one by ambient space-textures & the trance induced by trance-dancing.

    :)
