I recently heard one of the news anchors attacking a statement from someone that said that the "murder rate" in Washington DC is the same as that of Baghdad, implying that Iraq is not actually in a civil war. The anchor said that the man should do some research because the murder (including terrorism) of Baghdad is in fact seven times greater than that of Washington. SEVEN TIMES! THAT'S IT????? I'd expect a hundred. A thousand, even. But seven? That certainly isn't much, considering that Iraq is in the middle of a CIVIL WAR. Where bombs seem to be going off every day that kill hundreds. So is Washington a bloodbath or is Baghdad a cakewalk?
well, anywhere there are people crammed to the rafters there's gonna be a lot of fighting. it's not natural for man to be so close in proximity to other men all the fucking time. makes people aggressive. it's nature trying to control the population.
though i should make the exception that the ones trying hardest to kill each other are the ones without basic luxuries. they have life, but that's about it. it's hard to be a killer when you're content.
In the late 80's and early 90's the murder rate in D.C. and a few other cities was actually higher then the average in Iraq, but this was also a time where NYC I think had around 3,000 murders in one year, jesus crime was bad back then.
True- and that isn't even taking into consideration all the crime that occurs within the Capitol building itself.
True there's more crime in the Capitol Building today, than in Baghdad during the days of Ali Baba and the 40 thieves Hotwater
