Resin

My favorite resin session had to be when scraped out two bowls and put it into my grav bong. The bowl lasted over 15 grav hits and by the end I couldn't even work the grav anymore.

 

I ran out of weed the other day and decided to scrape my bowl and get s bunch of resin hits. When I started scraping the inside of the stem it started getting really juicy with this brown liquid. When I started washing my hands I just got fed up and ran the pipe under really really hot water.

After some of the resin on the inside of the outer glass around the bowl cleared out i noticed the entire chamber, stem and all was completely filled with resin, with the only hole being a tunnel from the bowl to the mouthpiece. That turned me off from taking resin hits. I smoke just under an ounce over 3 weeks for the past 4 months-ish.

Resin toke make me feel really dizzy like a weird not to swell buzz either. The high feels gross. So I just went out and bought more weed.

 

yeah, some of my friends dont like it either and say it makes them feel like shit.

 

The smoke you're pulling from a resin hit is a LOT hotter than some bud smoke because the resin is just tar and oil -- and oil gets made hot. I guess you could bypass this with a waterpipe or a bong, but even still, the smoke is also a lot more dense, it coats the hairs that filter our lungs. After a lot of that shit, the body's only defence is making us hock up big chewy hunks of phlegm.

 

im going to oppose this shunning of resin by reminding us all that resin has already been burnt once, thus all the hydrocarbons making up the tar have a much lower level of stored energy in them, and many are also non-flammable ash particles. notice when smoking resin smoothly, the whole resin ball will not burn but will instead heat up and turn white. a large portion of it is just ash. the rest is tar but since youre heating it up again, its going to burn (if anything) easier (lower temperature, less bond energy required to break) and its going to result in tars that are lighter and less sticky.

the flip side is that resin contains a mix of chemicals that is different to that of weed. while burning anything will make it less harmful for you the second time you burn it, chemicals deposit onto the sides of your piece at different rates and the portion of certain oils and gasses in the resin smoke will be different to that of the smoke that was initially smoked from the ganj. this results in a very different taste (smell), and feeling. no one has done studies on resin smoke so we cant really say how it compares to normal smoke, but its not as simple as : resin is worse. the crucial factor is the ratio of contents of the resin smoke compared to the initial smoke. there is nothing in the resin smoke that will be more harmful than in the initial smoke, only less harmful, but there is more of certain types of chemicals in resin smoke than in the initial smoke, notably chemicals that dont burn but merely vapourise.
it also makes a difference whether you mix tobacco into the weed. a big difference.

resin is a lot nicer through a bong or anything where water is involved. when i used to clean my pipes i´d harvest it and save it for smoking, but in the end, it´s just not worth it to me. i dont really care for it that much and there´s usually SOME kind of weed around for smoking that i dont have to resort to resin. but of course, switching up different highs is fun...

Nice, bro. But not entirely accurate. Whether or not a scientist has done "studies" on the black gunk you're calling resin, it still stands to reason that tar/oil gets MUCH hotter when lit on fire than plant matter (buds), therefore a hotter smoke is being inhaled.

"Resin" is generally made up of: ashe, plant particles, tar,aldehydes, hydrocarbons and leftover cannabinoids.

But I do agree with much that you posted, as though I myself don't enjoy toking on resin, I don't see it as being a bad thing. Hell, anytime you inhale smoke into your lungs, be it a cig, some pot or a wad of black goo, it's bad. But to each their own My main problem with it is how people talk about their pipe residue as if they just scraped some heady hash out of their bowl. It's not hash, it's not hash oil, hell, it's not even technically resin -- it's pipe residue. And yes, due to leftover THC, it will get you buzzed. It's all personal preference I suppose.

 

Dont do it, hash is shit or atleast ive found it to be. I smoked a biiiig hash joint at my friends to myself cause he didnt want to smoke hash, and all i felt was slightly light headed and stuff. It had affected me but not nicely or that noticeably, just felt a bit weird and sick. So no, fuck hash xD

 

It's hard to tell with hash, atleast for me. I'm much more comfortable being able to tell what's good bud and what's bad bud, as compared to what's good hash and what's shit. While in Amsterdam you can certainly find some really fine hash goodness, but I've had the same problem your talking about -- just feeling kind of bleh.

My favorite is blonde hash. If you're ever in Amsterdam, or any city in Holland, look for Icelator (sp?) that was some memorable stuff.

 

The last hash i smoked was hard and we had to burn it to crumble into joints, it smelt nasty and made it look like you had been putting your fingers in shit. Not that fun, the day after when i brought some bud was though

 

I wish I had access to that kinda stuff... around here tho, any hash is gonna be garbage I think, something good is going to be hard to find and if I could find some, it would be too much money. I might go to europe within the next year tho with a couple friends, so yeah...

thats awesome man... its kind of a pilgrimage for a lot of "stoners" or just people who love marijuana in general. My friends brother lives about 40 minutes away from amsterdam, so eventually when we save up some money we're gonna go stay with him.

 

im planning to go there for a week this summer... anyone know good places to stay or smoke?

 

Plenty of good places to stay, you shouldn't have a problem there. Utopia (coffeeshop/hostel) and the Flying Pig (same) all have some decent rooms. But the last time I went my friends and I actually got a room in a pretty nice motel right on the main drag (Damrack? or Dammarack or some shit) and we had no problems when we smoked the room out like crazy.

As for coffeeshops, def check out The Grey Area and Barneys (they do some great breakfast). There are so many good shops. Just look for the less touristy ones, and you're pretty sure to find some good stuff. Be warned, some of the stores sell OLD weed, it's like ancient. If anybody hands you something that looks like shit, don't be afraid of leaving and going someplace else. There are TONS of shops, no reason to have to smoke stale old nugs.

i was just gunna say that, they tell you the best coffee shops, hotels, space cakes, drugs that are illegial over here but legal there, so on etc. So yea Amsterdam is definately my type of cultural wonderland as far as all my wants and needs in life and its looking like a good place to be in yrs to come. Also is salvia illegiaL in A-dam and whats the currency exchange rate like compared to a USD
