I don't know of many people that do. I haven't been with many people, but now I'm about to be single again and will be facing the situation of asking my partner to put on a condom or produce a dental dam before oral sex. I don't plan on making them use a dental dam on me (unless they want to) because I have been monogamous for 4 years and have been tested for STDs and AIDS. How often do you use a barrier during oral sex?
Never with anyone, its not something i worry about (with my long term girlfriend) but even before her when being with other girls i never even considered it and if i was ever in that situation again i wouldn't consider it either. I understand how some people can be concerned but with oral sex there is only so much stuff you can catch and thats if the person even has it, although i don't know the facts i would say the chances of catching somethign via oral sex with potential partners is pretty slim though i suppose it depends on the sort of people you go for.
I'm not surprised at the answers thus far. I don't know anyone that has used any type of barrier with oral sex. (myself encluded) I think that people should if they're going to go around and be with a lot of people.
youd have to be insane to let someone go down on you if you had a disease. i think dental dams are stupid for this reason. i use condoms, just to prevent pregnancy. i think you would honestly have to be with a prostitute to use barriers for anyother reason unless your partner said something.
Right. But if you're with a lot of people, you never know what someone will have. Not everyone you're with (if you're not in a relationship with them) is going to be honest and tell you. And some people don't even know.
actually your chances of catching something depend on how promiscuous your current partner has been. the chances of catching a live ending disiease ergo aids are slim to nothing and therefore whilst I am in no way advocating not using barriers for oral sex - you have to decide for yourself. personally speaking I've made the decision that I'll live with the risk of picking something up orally but then again I wouldn't class myself or any of my potential parters as high risk (and that's speaking medically). if I were to advise a teenager at the BC sessions I do then I'd be saying use barriers for 6 months as in that length of time you will find out if they have anything (rashes etc breaking out) as well as have some idea of whether they are still sleeping around.
There are plenty of nasty STI's that can be transmitted in oral sex. Many people simply trust their partners, but the only definite way to prove someone is clean is to get tested. How can you trust someone if they never got tested?they might not even know that they carry STIs.
I am only with my boyfriend, I dont like the taste of latex, so I dont use one, besides I actually enjoy when he cums in my mouth.
You use condoms during oral to prevent pregnancy...? Did I read this wrong? She can swallow a gallon of cum man, she won't get pregnant.
Are we getting closer to the body condom, I mean a dental dam Jeeeez if you need one of those what's the point I can't even imagine such a thing, when I go down on a chick I want to smell and taste her not some piece of latex. Neither can I imagine putting on a condom when she is sucking me. Yes there are STDs you can catch from oral sex, so check each other out before you dive in, get to know each other first. Dental dam how could you. Peace
It's like a piece of latex that the dentist puts around your mouth not really in. Best I can do never used one. Peace
Ooops... I voted yes to condoms but thought this was about intercourse not oral, my bad (prob same error happened above). So, NO, I never used a barrier for oral!
You dont' use condoms to prevent pregnancy orally guys. It's because things like even.. chlamydia, can be transmitted orally.
its not the dentists who puts in lol its a piece of latex u put over the pussy while your partner licks it..its not attached in ur mouth forever, u dont have to go to the dentist to put it, this one has nothing to do with that lool
I put that I never use barrier for oral. I am an HIV/AIDS educator - not the right answer - give myself and F. CDC says there is risk and you should use barrier. I tried for a while. Found out I was the only person in Miami-Dade county doing oral with condoms. So, I teach the proper way then go do what everyone is doing. There are STD's to get by oral, but HIV is very low risk if at all. If you suspect partner of being diseased, at least don't let him cum in your mouth - risk goes way up. (But still not conclusive as to the risk). Don't brush your teeth before doing oral and don't do it if you are bleeding gums or mouth sores for any reason. Don't do it if either partner has "fever blisters" or "cold sores" on their genitals or mouth. The proper name for those ailments is Herpes and tho not life threatening it is annoying and it is for life. Those who want to use barrier for cunnilingus, use non-microwave Saran wrap instead of the dental dam. The fit is better, it is sheerer and doesn't taste like rubber disquised with chocolate or strawberry artificial flavors. (Microwave wrap has minute holes in it)
