I wasn't as adventurous this year as I was last year with my knitting.... last year I had made each person individual projects, a poncho here, a shawl there, some mittens for another person, etc, which took FOREVER... and it did cause a bit of a riff with a couple folks who felt a little envious over knowing that more yarn was used to knit a poncho for one person than their hat/scarf/mittens for themselves, although didn't realize that the yarn used cost different, therefore came out to about the same, dollarwise, BUT ANYWAY..... So, this year, using as many different funky yarns as possible, I knit everyone on my holiday-gift-giving list a hat/scarf/mittens-or-gloves set, in their respective favourite colours. I'm so glad to get these all done.... phew.....
Lucky you! I only just started the sweater/coat I'm knitting my mom for Xmas, and I've done some scarves and wrist warmers for friends, but not all of them yet. Still trying to think of some good man-knits. lol
kinda want to steal your fast knitting fingers and make them toil away for hours and hours until they are worked down to nubs and all MY xmas knitting is done too! I mean, I only have 2 sweaters, 2 toques and half a scarf left to do... its do-able right? Like... totally do-able.. :hysterica Do-able in that alternate universe sort of way.... crap. hahah
MoonjavaSeed, easy and quick things to make for guys are things like toques, scarves and gloves (rather than mittens) usually in darker colours tend to go over well. Last year I made a couple pairs of those fingerless gloves (glove fingers only went up 1/2 the finger) with the removable mitten top, which went over really well because most of the guys I know are either smokers or they work on their cars during the winter, so they're handy. icedteapriestess, trust me I'm not that quick of a knitter! Knowing that I was going on vacation next month, I started doing my christmas knitting in July when yarns started going on sale. In those 5 months, my goal was to knit or crochet at least 3 sets of one hat + one scarf + one pair of mitts or gloves, which gave me plenty of sets ready for now.... large items like sweaters are a whole different ball of wax for me, they take me forever to knit! I tried knitting my hubby a sweater for his birthday, giving myself 3 full weeks to make it, and it ended up taking me nearly 7 before I completed it! But I have full confidence in you finishing your projects on time! I'm totally all about keeping christmas knitting short and sweet.... nothing that requires more than 3 balls of yarn per person, unless I get special requests for bigger projects.... In January or so I'm planning to start my first aran sweater, which my brother wants, I should have it ready for his birthday in September!
