So has anyone picked it up? I went out and got it today and it is fucking amazing. My new favorite album by them in fact. I can't wait to go on a road trip to Detroit Dec. 1st to check them out. If you don't have it yet, I highly suggest you get it.
I heard it was better than their previous one(s). Haven't heard it yet for myself. I do have the 2CD version of Versus the world, the CD+DVD version of Fate of Norns, and the Picture disk of Once sent from the golden hall (#295 out of 500 made)*. Despite this I have to admit they're not a band I listen to a lot anymore. *) there was a time I had money for such things...
The Avenger used to be my favorite album actually. Bleed for Ancient Gods is good and Legend of a Banished man is a fucking amazing song.
I've got all the AA albums, have had Once Sent since it came out. This is probably the best one of them all. My other favorites are Once Sent and Versus. I need to break those out again.
Of Versus the world I like about three songs. I like the bonus disc with demo and EP material much more...
Show was excellent minus a few technical probs at the beginning. They played Valhall Awaits to open the show... Sort of... The EQing on the guitars was fucked and so the entire song was played with only Drums, Bass, and Vox. The sound crew didden't even fix it. That was odd. The rest of the show was top notch though. Children of Bodom was a bore but I wasen't expecting to enjoy their show either way. After the show Johan was hanging out by the Merch booth to meet fans and later he was joined by the rest of the band. They were pretty cool guys. Overall, if Amon Amarth is coming through your area on this leg of the tour check it out.
I don't play their records much but I would definitely see them live if it's not too much money, too far, etc.
