It surprises me that it took you a year to find that album! It took me a year to find the firstpress LP...

Your right, Tommy Hall uses the jug as a prop. Much like Bruce does in our band. Both Tommy and Bruce run their rolling sound from an ecoplex, then tweeks the sound to get that haunting drone.

As for what albums I have, I have all 4 of the original records, a live bootleg from the Avalon, a two disc compilation of live tunes, A Roky tribute album, and a general "best of" 13th floor elevators.

I've got a 'live' 1966 c.d. which I think is the 'Avalon Ballroom';the linear note don't say: - it includes a quirky but brilliant cover version of The Beatles' 'The Word' on it.
As was said I can't understand either how blowing into a jug can create that bubble -noise effect.Something is being put through a sound oscillator & echoplex if you ask me.
'Easter Everywhere' has an awesome song on it: 'Nobody To Love'.But 'The Psychedelic Sounds Of......' is a near perfect album.

I have the CD too. Most of the songs on there are cover tunes, which is fine by me.

Tommy Hall (and Bruce) make the bubbleing sound effect with their mouth into a mic, the jug is just a prop. The real star of that effect is an echo-plex.

you can hear two of our songs with the echo-plex machine.

Very good band. My favorite is "Don't Fall Down". Not sure why, but it is.

They're a very good band, the album made in '66 is very psychedelic compared to other albums made that year. That jug sound gets old quick though...

They're awesome. My favorite is "Rollercoaster", it's just so dark. Roky's one crazy dude, apparently, but he's had alot of good solo albums, too.

You should check out a band called Spacemen 3, they have a huge "homage" to "Don't Fall Down", called "We Sell Soul", on their "Forged Prescriptions" cd.

I have both The Psychadelic Sounds... and Easter Everywhere.

The Psych Sounds is awesome, a must own.
Easter Everywhere has some great songs to start it but then it sort of cools down but it is still good.

anyways Roky Erikson is playing Noise Pop in San Fran
