What is a cheap material to stop water leakages?

    A material to apply over the bathroom tiles.

    or something to absorb the moisture

    Kitty litter is a good, cheap, easily available absorbant.

    I've always heard linseed oil & beeswax makes a good waterproofing for canvas, so it may also work on porous tile. You may want to look into pine sap also. Both'll need to be processed a bit otherwise you have a sticky mess.
