One thing americans use a lot and that is W's and O's. Because they say mum as Mom, technically the prounciation difference calls for the O to be replacement for U. My question: How is life in America for someone like me? Living in council flat, unemployed and have jobseekers allowance with eccentric friends? Do America have a dole system there or is it, no money, no hand outs if you are unemployed? What do you think is the most beautiful place in America that you go to quite alot? What is with the prom night? We have proms in England, but it is more musical and with an orchestra with trombones and violins in a concert hall
strictly to be contrary. don't show up here without a job. someone will beat you and ship you home unconscious. i adore ouray (yerAY) in colorado. awesome hot springs. prom night is for losing your virginity, or pretending to, and having your parents pay for the room.
(1770s) Hey,I heard a limey say "mum" the other day instead of mom.Reply=No shit ?we can't have a bunch a' pussys like that runnin' us.Lets get rid of 'em.So you see, that's why you got run out. You're 'sposta talk english like we do.Y'll ain't never gonn' learn,is you?
In America, do you have milkman? In America do you have a Parliament aside from the White House? Thinking about american daily life, is there things that America wish they had that British have? Such as an English breakfast? Scots Oats porridge or Welsh Rarebit?
Well an american who knows england anyway. What would "Child Large" mean in my reality, when sizeng my children for a T-Shirt from the USA ?
Any large t shirt from USA will be the same but the size will be more. Take shoes, I am size 12 and American size says 12 is 13.
Ha ha this is a funny thread. When I make breakfast for my two lil' kids it's usually scrambled eggs WITH CHEESE, bacon or sausage, and toast with butter/jelly...sometimes cereal or oatmeal...sometimes we eat pancakes, or french toast. I like tea, but usu. have coffee w/breakfast. I prefer rum and coke to all things. Is there anything in Britian that I wish I had? Hmm....well, I do enjoy british lit, I love the proper english accent, and it's cool that European women don't have to worry about shaving. Golden Guernsey goats and Gypsy Vanner horses! I wish I had some of those!! I like to learn about Stonehenge and Woodhenge. Crop circles are also interesting. (we have those in America too) I think the most beautiful place in America is probably either Yellowstone/Grand Tetons, or the Redwood Forest of the Pacific Northwest. It's an ancient, northerly rainforest! Pretty cool. I think the American Gov't sucks, Bush is a doofus, and I feel like we are all looked down upon for our president. Most of us want him out, but the opinion of the people doesn't really amount to much these days. It's just a farce so they can rule our lives without actually ruling our lives. There is a lot of dissent and unhappiness with how things are being handled, even by the people who supported Bush to begin with. Please don't think we are all stupid gluttons, wasteful and mean. Most of us are just trapped in Babylon. If you don't wanna work, or ain't gotta job, it can be hard to make it here. We are a capitalist society, so if you ain't workin, don't no body wanna give up what they got for someone who won't/cant always get it for themselves. However, there are quite a few homeless people, but that is mostly by choice. You can go to food pantries and homless shelters, but you have to sign up for "government assistance" or welfare if you want free handouts. You gotta be a citizen, tho, o'course. All in all, it's nice here....the land is beautiful and full of things to discover. There's a plethera of different people and different ideas. Food and shelter are plentiful, and there are those of us who are kind, loving and generous. You can do things and say things here that you would be put to death for elsewhere. That is cool. You can be whatever you want to be, if you want to have a career. So you see, there are two sides of America. There's the side the Government presents and pushes upon the rest of the world, which most of us civilians don't agree with but cannot stop, and then there's the homey, comforatable side where most of us live in our warm homes, trying just like any one else, to "put food on our families" and live in decency. It really depends on where you look, what you'll see. So, that being said, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, no matter where they are from. Now for you Red-Coats...... Why is tea time such a big thing? Do Britons hate Americans? Do you guys get tornados? We do: they scare me. What do Britons smell like? What is Welsh Rarebit? Are there "gangstas" among the black british poulation? How easy is it for an American w/no special skills to make a life in UK? What do American accents sound like? >^_^<
Believe it or not, we actually have postmen AND postwomen. No milkmen, tho...we have to go to the store and get it our damn selves. Which, I guess, is okay, cuz in the summer it gets so f*king hot, it'd spoil anyways.
you can have milk, meat, fish, ANYTHING delivered in a monthly service. the milk is fresh daily, everything else is frozen. we have an all organic meat, veggie, etc. delivery group in fort collins. the price is really reasonable and the food is excellent. you can use paper bags at the grocery, but you can also bring your own linen sacks or even boxes to the stores to carry out your groceries. i like using boxes, they're easier to carry, load and unload.
Bush is still president because I lost my.... er... someone else lost their sniper... not me of course.
