Yes, I agree. And, as others have said, very well said. That whole article was just ridiculous. I can't believe some people are actually concerned about such things. What a man wears has nothing to do with his manliness. A man's character, demeanor, and attitude determine whether he's "manly" or not, not what he wears or doesn't wear. The views displayed in that article are so shallow and superficial. Judging someone's manliness by whether he wears flip-flops or not is in itself not manly. I think people who are so concerned about someone's "manliness," or perhaps sexual orientation, based on what someone may choose to wear are only reflecting their own insecurities as to their own manhood.

This reminds me of many years ago when I was active in the martial arts. My tae-kwon-do instructor, a Korean 7th degree black belt master, was remodeling his studio and his students were helping. We were discussing wall covering for the men's dressing room, and our instructor had picked out a wallpaper that had a colorful flowery design on it. A couple of the guys expressed the feeling that wallpaper with flowers on it might look too feminine or "gay" for a men's dressing room. Our instructor just laughed. He said anyone who was concerned about such things undoubtedly was insecure in his own manhood.

The same applies to anyone who thinks flip-flops have anything whatsoever to do with manliness.

:horseshit It is obvious you are such an open minded person. :cuss: I totally disagree with your statement. Masculinity is not defined by attire. It is "shocking" for someone to post such an ass backward statement on a hip forums thread.

the shoe type that we currently define as flip flops have been worn by men for ages.

the days of this is for women & this is for men are over, we can all wear whatever we want pretty much. Flip flops are for anyone, thats like saying earrings are for women only.

i would like to agree with you but they are not totaly over BUT i wish they were.

here is how i see it: women can wear anything they wan to form ether the guys department or the womens department i have even seen women in tuxedos and suits

however: If a man wears ANYTHING (other than things that look like they came out of the mens section ie. pants t-shirts ect.) they are considered ether GAY, bisexual, or at least a Cross dresser wich idk about you but i think that this is unfair to guys why should guys have to only wear a sertain type of chothing while women can where anything that exists and no one cares

if a guy puts on a skirt cause its light and feels good they are looked at by the public like there is something wrong with them or there gay

the only override is a kilt and that only works( in most ppls minds) if your Irish and playing bagpips -_-

the flipflop argument is just the tip of teh iceburg why cant i wear a summer dress and run in the field barfoot and not be thought of as Less manly what does comfort have to do with it?

should I have started a new thread for this ??

Well I have no problem wearing bell-bottoms and flip flops or slightly frilly shirts. But yall know how it is and all. In the end, it's all about the love.

But here is an example. At school, I don't care, and neither does everyone else. They're like "Oooooo! You look good in those pants!". So maybe in a small way, we can help shape society in a way that is more unisexual clothing.

This is an actual photo of me. And ah... yeah I'm a dude.

Troll or spammer, now I don't know which.

Yeah, you have mostly flops which only girls/women would wear. But it may disturb you to know that some men would wear some of these. Hey, if you opened it up to both genders you could double your business. Just imagine. Why limit it to only half the population? I wonder the same about Dr Scholl's foot care lotions, which I used to enjoy, but now suddenly they all say "For Her---" on them. Why this? I won't buy them now. There are alternative lotions which don't decide FOR you which gender gets to use their lotion. I kinda think Dr. Scholls was always that way, though, growing up in the 70s---only for girls.

    What planet r u from?

Cool Spruce is right about men wearing girls flip flops. I do like wearing the very flat straw type flip flops with thin velvety straps, when I am not barefoot!

    Keep em dirty

Yeah I mean why shouldn't a guy wear flip flops? You can even buy them in male sections of shoe stores. So I really don't think that they are gender specific.

Flip Flops are cool, I'd wear em to the beach or the pool, but I like sandals.

Yeah, I like flip flops, but if you look at the facts, sandles are more practical.

But you gatta love those bare feet!
