hey there, recently i made some cookies. They tasted great but didnt get me very stoned. im wondering if anyone knows why! i used 20 grams of mids, 2 sticks of butter. i filled a pot with water and let it boil, and inside of the boiling water i put another pot full of the 2 sticks of butter (double boiler). the butter melted, i mixed the 20 grams. i mixed the butter and bud for 30 minutes. i let the butter cool (not totally harden) and it looked sort of like a gel. i mixed the 2 sticks with 2 eggs, and added the cookie mix, mixed well and baked for 9 minutes. they looked, tasted, and smelled great! yet, after 1 full hour very little stone effect was taking place. my first thought was i didnt let the buds and butter cook together long enough...
i dont know.. how much did you eat? my friend made us brownies once and i didn't get high from them, but i got mad indigestion :| it might take another hour though, be patient
sounds like you needed to let cook longer... at the lowest heat for several hours...... or at least that's what I heard, since I have never tried it myslef due to skepticism.
I have hope that simmering time in the butter is they key cuz they dont get me too high either. Even 2 grams of chronic in one small cookie. Id try simemrign for liek 4 hours. Well you could eat the butter straight on toast it would oprobably get you higher. Less food to ingest with the thc, higher.
thats y smoking is the best way! but i want pudding. is that even possible? no. i dont think it is...
yea the time of simmering is my guess too... im thinking, does anyone know a recipe that uses a crock pot? if not, ill just simmer it for like 5 hours next time and start early in the day.
um no it shouldnt take that long.... try something other than cookies. make weed peanut butter, or nutella like i did. it works GREAT. and i only used HALF A GRAM (but Id suggest a full gram, I only had half a gram at the time) for enough nutella for one piece of bread. and it worked splendidly. if you dont know what nutella is, ill tell ya: its pretty much chocolate flavored peanut butter, but its made with hazelnuts instead of peanuts. anywho: spread a big glob of peanut butter or nutella on a slice of bread (or a cookie, grahamcracker, etc.), and spread it. then sprinkle the gram of weed on top. take another cookie of piece of bread with nutella/peanut butter on top of it, and put it on top of the other slice/cookie, so its a sandwich, with the nutella sides obviously facing inside. COOK IN OVER FOR 15 MINUTES: at 300 degrees (im not sure the exact temperature, just make sure its as hot as it can be, without it burning hte bread or cookies during the 15 minutes). Take it out, eat and enjoy. I hope this helps Dylan
I make baked goods all the time and I never simmer the weed/butter for more than 30--40 minutes. Here's the way I do it: I start with whatever amt. of pot it takes to get me high when smoked x how many units (cookie/brownies, etc.) the reciepe calls for and how many I want to eat to get high. For example if it take me 1 gram to get me high when I smoke it and I want to get high off of 1 brownie, and the mix makes 20 brownies I use 20 grams. I use dried cured weed, well crumbled up. I mix this with a tiny bit more butter than the reciepe calls for. If it call for 1/2 lb. butter/oil I use that much plus 1 tblsp. I simmer (that means just when the mixture starts to barely bubble) for 30--40 minutes. I cool it slightly (before it starts to gel), then I strain the mixture through a t-shirt into another container (I squeeze the t-shirt to make sure I get every drop of the butter) and use this cannabuter in the brownie mix. I throw away the left over weed; it no longer contains any THC. The high one gets from eating pot is different than smoking it. It's a body stone, the ultimate couch-lock. If you got indigestion it's because you ate the plant material. The main part of pot that gets you stoned is the THC. Oil and heat detach the THC from the plant material. Toker, no reason to be skeptical. I've gotten high off of happy baked goods hundreds of times (it's a great way to ingest pot as a sleeping aid). I always caution people to try a small amt. first. Sweet Marina collapsed from eating too many happy rum balls at a New Years Eve party. There were no ill effects and she was with many of her closest friends; she just got so relaxed she could no longer stand up. Hans ate too many happy oatmeal cookies on a camping trip. He was told it would only take 1 cookie to get him high; he ate 3. An hour later his g/f came up to me and said "Hans is in our tent and won't come out." We had to help him out of the tent. Also, when you eat weed the effects last 4-6 hours. Another important reason to be careful how much you eat. You may want to do something during the next 4--6 hours. Eat too much and you won't be able to do shit. I know one person who ate a bunch and he was disappointed because after an hour he fell asleep. You can get high many ways from eating weed. You can spead the butter on toast or crackers, you can make yogurt (milk contains butterfat). I've made happy ice cream before. Once I fried up a magic mushroom omelette in happy butter. Mmmmmm. Try my method; you'll be glad you did.
That looks like a great method. I think the original poster was using much lower heat that you, which may be why his didn't work. Maybe not though. -Mike
i love you ranger lol. since you are simmering i imagine you are just putting say a 1/2lb of butter into the pot (one pot, no double boil, correct?), letting it get to the simmering point then add your finely crumbled bud, and simmer for 30-40. ok. then let that cool almost to the point of being gel, then just adding it to the brownies. heres a question, would brownies contain more fat and therefore be more efficient when cooking as compared to cookies? (suppose this doesnt make much difference since eating it straight will still work) i selected cookies because all of the recipes in the store for the brownies called for oil instead of butter. whats the butter to oil ratio? any suggestions on a brand, or do you work from scratch? i need detail because this is the second time ive done this with poor results. last time i just ate the butter straight with minimal results. i'm also looking to use some very good dank next time and i just dont want to fuck up again, the mids i used really werent bad at all, almost totally purple and crystally as hell, yet i did not yield a quality product
i think ranger's advice is good. i think you cooked the butter waay too hot. instead of boiling water just simmer it, anywhere from low-medium(try playing around with it) i try to cook it like i'm vaporizing it....like i'll compare how the weed looks and smells to how it does when i vaporize, and i try to go by that a little bit. the best temp. for me is when i smell the flavor of it really well, but no burnst smell, and it's slowly getting more and more smelly, not rapidly and i find about 30 some minutes to be good enough. when i use butter, i find if i cook it for much longer it all starts to just evaporate. i've heard oil works better than butter, but usually end up using butter because it's whats around.
I do it like he does and it still sucks. Maybe im not lookin for the right high though. Ill simmer for fuckin 12 hours next time well see about it
don't give up on cooking with weed; it's totally awesome. like someone said, you don't need to cook it for 4 hours that's far too excessive. try 30-45 minutes, max. 15 minutes should be FINE, even, but i do closer to 45 just to be safe. also, don't bother with butter or double boilers--toss that fancy shit aside. all you need is vegetable oil and a saucepan. bring the heat up to the point where the oil is beginning to bubble and let it simmer there, but be sure to not BOIL it. you want it to be HOT but not so hot that you're scorching the weed (which, by the way, you should always grind up to maximize surface area--never use whole buds, obviously). that's why you must hover around the fine line between simmering and boiling. i generally use crappy weed for cooking. last time i used 22g of 25-year-old pot. i briefly tried smoking it and it didn't even get me high, so it wasn't good weed. i used 1g per brownie. when i ate an entire brownie i tripped balls and blacked out.... 1/2 a brownie will have me VERY stoned for about 10 hours. 2/3 of a brownie was the most i could handle without losing ALL muscular control. good luck.
my bf made us some cookies like that once. they looked an smelled really good, but he had left them out over night. we ate em at a ska show the next day and they were hard as rocks! we gnawed at em till they were gone so as not to waste them, and they totally worked. my teeth hurt a lot, and it would have been easier to just go toke or something, but it was worth it anyway
