Britain has darker sides to its history and the present day. From the Tower of London to present day Goths. Yes even Britain has a Gothic population.

So talk about Goths and darker sides to British culture. (British goths, not US)

The ones in the Us are more Vampires than ordinary Goths. Also they don't have the UK punk influence. And Goths are really teenagers in America with the following exceptions: Marilyn Manson.
In Uk, Goths can range from any age. I am a goth and am jai 24 ons.

I think Gothic culture came from British soil but soon America got inspiration.

    Brits are more genuine.

They do look peculiar when they live in the countryside, city folk I can comprehend, but a goth amongst the trees and flowers.

Perhaps a Gothic sub forum is also in order here:)

A dark side to London is that we used to take traitors through traitors gate for torture and execution in the form of beheading.

However the bloodiest thing to ever happen was when the Queen of Victoria or something I don't know called for the execution of some King or some guy to be the most bloodiest and painful. He died by torture. I think he was called Richard but not sure.

In some place in Scotland, they still do the Wickerman, though there are no real people in there. It is just the wickerman made of twigs and stuff. The film wickerman sparked this tradition off.

Also they used to rip your teeth out at forty years ago.

Over my cold dead corpse - which, coincidentally, will look pretty similar to a goth :jester:

Well, what has come to be called 'goth' started in the U.K., and very few people in the states ever really understood what it was about.
There was and still is a truly goth sub-culture here...but it is tiny and malnourished. Some would say it is, ironically enough, dead.

The problem is that there is very little truly tragic, dark, beautiful music in America to be had - just overdramatic, 'emo', bullshit. Perhaps in the late 80's, there was a goth or two to be found at a mall or concert - now these places are filled to the brim with attention-whoring sycophants, far more interested in ego-stroking and what new shitty 'HIM' album released than about what the original 'goth' culture was all about.

I'd say a lot of goth culture has been merged with emo culture here in the UK too. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference....

Gothism has not died in the Uk. I believe that it is starting to become an acceptable form of fashion. I predict twenty years time we will have Goths appearing in Hello.

For me, life is a spiral of woes and depression.

Okey dark side to British culture. Lets go back to the plague. Wiped out lots of people.

How do goths relate to the plague? Unless it was goths that started it. But I thought it was the Jews :jester:
