I started taking Yaz in the summer, and for the first 3 months or so I had VERY bad nausea, absouletly NO sex drive, and I gained a few pounds, I've had slight numbness and tingling in my face..I also think my acne worsened. Last month I accidently missed a few days or pills and had to stop that month and wait until my next period. Last night I took a pill again for the first time since last month. Today I've felt nauseas and qweezy. Has anyone used Yaz and how did it work for you? It's supposed to be this new amazing pill with a lot of benefits, but for me, and from what I've heard from a few other people it hasn't been that great. I just don't want to continue feeling so nauseas and sick for the next few months, but I also don't want to play around with a bunch of pills when they could have even worse effects. Help!
There is not a single bc option that works wonderfully for every woman. Pretty much every hormonal bc method will work wonderfully for some women and have horrible side effects for others. Get off Yaz NOW. Go to your doctor, talk about the specific side effects you've experienced. If your doc is worth his/her salt, they will be able to put you on a pill that should have less negative side effects. They may not get the perfect one right off the bat, but it should be in the right direction (different ratio of hormones, higher/lower dose). When I went on the pill this last time, I went through several before finding one that worked well. Right off the bat, I told my doc that I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen before and that it made me feel psychotically PMSy 29 days out of every cycle. So she said I should be on a monophasic pill, as that is the best option for women who get emotional side effects from hormonal bc. I forget what she put me on, but it was great for 3 weeks, then I spent a week each month curled up in a ball crying. So I went back and told my doc about that. So she put me on a lower dose pill, which only made me cry for 3-4 days per cycle. Still not good, so I went back and she put me on an even lower dose pill. I forget exactly how many types I went through, but I eventually found one that worked. But, since I had a good doc, each new pill had less bad side effects. None was worse than the previous one. And I'm glad I went in and talked to my doc instead of suffering any longer than I did (though I did give each about 3 months to see if it was just an adjustment phase).
I started taking Yaz two months ago, and I noticed a lot of those same things, but my sex drive went up to an insane degree, and I had a slightly numbness in my leg for a few days, I was sick to my stomach for hte first month straight, but now it's a lot better and I can barely feel the difference. I gained a few pounds that first month, but they've come off now. So, the first month almost killed me, but now it seems alright. But most people I know who take it have had horrible side effects with it, so I guess I'm just lucky... Good luck at finding one that works!
