I know I'm not the only one who begins to crave carbs when the weather starts to get cold. Of course I'm much better than I was when I was younger, I used to eat tons of carbs year round, now my carb intake is only more noticable in the late fall, winter and early spring. Just wondering what others who find themselves in this situation might do to put down the pasta or sugary sweet (the sugary sweet craving tips me off, I don't usually enjoy this sort of thing)

Well, for one thing, if you eat protein with every meal that tends to lessen your carb cravings. And the thing about carbohydrates is that if you eat certain "trigger foods" your body will start to crave all kinds of carbohydrates. It tends to be snacky carbohydrates like pizza and cake, things like that.

And make sure you don't skip meals--if you get too hungry all you will want is carbohydrates! So fill up on vegetables and protein--and when you really need some sugar, eat some fruit.

Good suggestions, ihsvs. I would also add eating more fruits to that.

Thanks for the advice... now it's easier said/read than done... I've known this stuff but its just hard implementing it.... also because it's getting to that stressfull time of year... I hate the holidays and seem to turn to food when I'm stressed... usually carbs.

Just remember to have focus. I know it's easier said than done, but it's better if it's done, right?

god I'm a carb freak too. I love sugar and have little appetite for anything that's not sweet. I just limit myself to mostly whole grains during the week and on the weekends kinda eat what I want because I like eating out and baking. It works really well and it's amzing how many things I consumed daily now seem sickening sweet.
i also add protein to things if I really crave sugar during the week and it eat as a meal. Like if I get frozen yogurt I'll get almonds, peanuts, sliced strawberries and granola on top because the frozen yogurt is too low in fat and higher in sugar

I do eat whole grains, just about everything I have that can be whole grain is. I'm thinking it's a mind over matter situation... the problem isn't the carbs or what I am eating, it's how much if it I am eating.... alot of that is beacuse I usually get stressed out when the holidays hit. I just have to avoid doing that... and... focus.

If I want carbs...I don't let myself eat starchy carbs like bread, or rice...or beans...or potatoes...only fruits, dairy, and veges. Starch carbs only made me gain weight and since I cut them out I've lost weight

Drink water. Most of the time when you think you are hungry, you are really just thristy. Or go do something for a little while cause cravings only lasts about 15 minutes.

same here when I eat whole grains and am full I want whatever I am eating out of my sight. If I'm eating cookies I think I could easily do the whole box if I let myself.
