Just wondering what foods people like to indulge in most of the time and especially at Christmas time? Anyone can suggest some nice things to eat at christmas time or what type of food you should look for in terms of dieting etc.

Also anyone with any recipes can put them down here and suggest ways of making carrot cake or home made christmas pudding or how to successfully cook a christmas turkey without burning the house down.

This thread is exclusive to foods/recipe/food ideas and suggestions and looking at some of the best foods for watching movies by.

    Recipe for perfect baggette lunch:

Cut two tomatoes into thick slices.
Open up half a baggette and slice down the middle with a machette or kitchen knife.
Get mayonaise and dunk as much as you can into the half bagette
Now get some cheddar cheese and cut into thick slices.
Lay the pieces down lengthways along the bagette
    Grate some chedder cheese
Get some sausages from the fridge and start frying them.
Once cooked, nice and brown and NOT pink in the middle, slice each sausage in half.
There should be atleast four sausages. Now lay these sausage slices along the cheese in the bagette.
Now sprinkle the grated cheese over the top and put it in the oven for four minutes or until the cheese has melted.

Now serve with frys. And for drink, a pint of Guiness.

I would usually make apple pie with cloves or cinnamon already in it, perhaps a mulled pie.

Mulled wine is usually red wine with citrus fruit and spices as above, nutmeg also, put it on the stove to warm, never let it boil.

Once saw a student cookbook that told you how to make ridiculous things like fried bread. You fry bread. Honestly, how stupid do they think students are....

    Eggybread

Make eggy bread using eggs and bread.

Then once done, add Tate and lyles golden syrup.
    Or treacle.

I also suggest adding cheese. Lots of it because it is one of my main foods in my diet.

    Good recipe.

Get some spaghetti on the boil. Fresh spaghetti that you get from italian shops. I have one just down the road in Lewisham Highstreet. Friendly guy.
Okey so now get some cheddar cheese, mozerrella cheese and some red leiscester. Grate the cheddar and red leiscester and then mix the two grated cheeses together. Now get a frying pan and chop some chestnut mushrooms. put oil in pan. Any will do but don't use extra virgin olive oil [IMG]*

Fry the chestnut mushrooms carefully. Next get some onions and chop and dice them. If you have a super V slicer, it is quicker. Now bung onions in to frying pan.
Add salt and pepper to the onions and mushrooms and fry until lightly brown. Open a tin of chopped tomatoes and pour it into the frying pan. stir around and add tomatoe puree for thickness. Now get some microwavable sausages and microwave according to instructions. Once it goes Bing, take out and begin chopping sausages into dice format. Now add sausages to the frying pan and stir in with the other stuff. Now the spaghetti should be done. If it has, drain and bung the spaghetti back in the sauce pan again. Now stir in the sauce into the saucepan mixing strongly. Now open a tin of black or green olives. put a few of them in the saucepan and now stir again. Add mixed herbs and mix around. Now get your mozerrella and slice thickly. Put that to a side and get out a pyrex dish or glass dish and set oven to hot. Pour sauce pan contents into pyrex dish and spread the contents evenly. Now put the slices of mozerrela on top of the contents, sealing the contents affectively. Now bung on the red leiscester and cheddar cheese on top of mozerrella and add some Tobasco sauce and be generous. Now bung in oven until cheese has melted. Take out and eat from the dish making sure you place it on a table mat with oven mittens. Serve with a litre of coca cola and serve with buttered baggette and salad aswell as mayonaise and additional tobasco sauce or salt if needed.

I call this dish, Spare me not.

    Get giant pizza base
Smear tomatoe puree all over it, add loads and loads of cheese and then add tuna mayonaise and jalapeno peppers plus salt pepper and anchovies. Last but not least add pineapple slices and then bung in the oven:D

    Got another one:

Get some fillet of chicken. Boneless and skinned. Now some people say wash the chicken under a tap. I say don't as all you are doing is spreading the bacteria around. Okey so

This is Chicken Satay served with ordinary rice or Basmati and salad.

Okey so get your chicken and place on a non stick baking tray and place in the oven at a medium temperature.

Get two saucepans and fill one with water for the rice. Next put saucepan with water on the hob and put to a medium heat. Some people put the rice in now or once it boils.I put it in now because it gives the rice time to soften.
So thats the rice sorted. Now get some ordinary peanut butter. I would go for smooth rather than crunchy.
Now get the other saucepan and put on hob at low heat. Add a 1/4 of milk(any will do except for soya) Pour milk into saucepan and then add five heaped table spoons of peanut butter into the milk. Now get Mr spoony, wooden if possible and keep stirring until reasonably thick. Once it is thick, put a saucepan lid on top to keep warm. Turn off unused stove and lets make the salad.

Get kos lettuce and chop into managable pieces that can fit into your salad bowl.

For the dressing we will only use Extra Virgin olive oil and a pinch of salt. We need to chop up some tomatoes from the vine and some cucumber. Once you have done, mix the leaves with tomatoes and cucumber slices. Now we add olive oil and a pinch of salt. If you want to add anything else, do so.

Now the chicken is cooked, if it leaks clear fluid and is not too hard. Now we drain the rice in a drainer and put a bed of rice on the plate. Now we lay the chicken on top and pour over the peanut sauce over the chicken. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.

    Add salt at dinner table.

Place on table and the salad in centre of table and serve with a nice glass of Chilian white wine.

Remember food hygiene! When dealing with meats like Chicken, poultry, dairy and pork, beef products, remember that you need to wash your hands and cover any food that is not being used before putting in the fridge. Also make sure you have a probe to check food is cooked. Don't microwave any meat unless it is ready meal. This is because mistakes can be made. What looks cooked is not always the case.

I had salmonella because of that and I thought I was dying. My little gut was churning away and bowels were clenching before I ended up losing a few pounds and being isolated to a bed. Salmonella is like painful. It is so bad that you even squeal with desperation and you feel week and dizzy. Read up and be safe. Don't use the same chopping boards for meat and veg. Also use glass chopping boards as wooden or plastic usually has cracks big enough to hide bacteria. Glass is more tough.
