Emo is short for emotional. Someone who isn't afraid to express themselves emotionally. You don't have to dress a certain way or HAVE BANGS for that matter. Same thing with a hippie. You don't have to wear tie dyes or listen to Jimi Hendrix to be a hippie. A person who is emo is just how they express themselves. Doesn't mean that they cut themselves. Some do, some are into dark things, some dress kind of gothic and wear dark clothes and listen to emo music. They usually cry alot, are moody and have some anger towards the world. I consider myself to be emo but it's really just a label, same as with hippie. If people want to walk around saying that they hate emo's then looks like they got some emotions built up of their own.... People are who they are...
